Plein Air Richmond brings artists from all over the United States to Richmond for one amazing week of painting our beautiful and historic city. Plein air painting is typically done outside rather than in a studio. The term comes from the French en plein air, meaning "in the open air." Participating artists consider Plein Air Richmond to be one of the top plein air events in the country − it is helping to put Richmond on the map as an arts destination for the artists and patrons alike.

Twenty-five percent of proceeds from art sales and all ticket purchases to the preview reception on June 22 will benefit the lifesaving programs and services of the Richmond SPCA!

The event will take place June 18 to 24 with highlights including:
  • a ticketed collectors' preview sale and awards reception on Friday, June 22 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Brazier Gallery (1616 W. Main Street in the Fan)
  • a public art sale on Saturday, June 23 (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and Sunday, June 24 (noon to 4 p.m.) at Brazier Gallery and
  • a "Fast & Fresh" two-hour painting competition on Saturday, June 24 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. in Carytown. "Fast and Fresh" paintings can be purchased right off the easel!
The wonderful art in the show will include oil paintings and watercolors in a wide variety of shapes, sizes and prices. Plein Air Richmond pieces are all created throughout the week of June 18 through 24 and daily painting locations will include The Fan, Church Hill, Monument Avenue, Rocketts Landing and more. The public is encouraged to observe the artists in action - especially in Carytown on June 24 at "Fast & Fresh!"

You don't want to miss this fantastic opportunity to celebrate our lovely city by adding beauty and art to your home and to help homeless animals at the same time.

Thank you to our generous Plein Air Richmond sponsors!
