Instructor: Donna Anderson. Freestyle Heeling is a different twist on traditional heeling. This class is similar to Heelwork to music or Canine Freestyle but, with more emphasis on heel work and less emphasis on music or dancing. A great beginner/ repeater class to get started on your way to Heelwork to Music or Musical Freestyle. No dancing required in this class however! Come to learn not only heel on left, but heel on right, forward, backward, front position heeling, follow position heeling, lateral heeling, spins, circles, abouts, behinds, transitions and much more. Your instructor will take the the concept of heeling further by adding moves and routines that do not maintain the traditional heel position. This activity can be sport focused, precision focused, or performance focused. There is no "best" focus. What is right for you and your dog depends upon your personality, your goals and your teamwork. Pre-requisites: Dogs must be non-dog aggressive and have some ability to focus on the handler in a distracting environment. Must have taken a manners or tricks class or other class requiring focus on the handler. Clicker-wise dogs a plus. Dog must be willing to work for food. This is not the class for extremely distracted dogs unable to focus on the handler with other dogs in close proximity. Prior heeling class not necessary but helpful. All dogs must be 6 months or older and current on all shots and vaccinations.
Classes scheduled every week on Friday starting 1/12/2018 and ending 2/23/2018 at 6:15PM
