About the Fur Ball

The Annual Richmond SPCA Fur Ball, presented by BB&T Richmond, is Richmond's only black-tie event for people and their pets. The event has been voted Best Annual Benefit Gala by the readers of Style Weekly for seven years in a row and most recently won a "Hall of Fame" award after multiple consecutive years of winning.  Fur Ball was also chosen by the readers of Virginia Living Magazine as the Most Creative Charitable Event in Central Virginia in 2013, as one of the top three charity events in Central Virginia in 2014 and 2015 and the Best Annual Charity Event in Central Virginia in 2016. The fun, spirited event is our largest fundraiser to support the Cinderella Fund, which pays for the cost of care and rehabilitation for sick, injured and neonatal homeless animals who come into our care each year.

Each November, the Fur Ball takes place at The Jefferson Hotel and includes a cocktail reception, a seated dinner sponsored by Holiday Barn Pet Resorts, a live auction sponsored by Dominion Energy, a silent auction sponsored by ColonialWebb, a parade of pets down the Grand Staircase sponsored by The Humane Society of the United States, a raffle and a special jewelry prize sponsored by Virginia Asset Management. Guests with pets along for the fun are invited to use our volunteer Pet Escort program, sponsored by The Altria Group.

Last year, the Richmond SPCA cared for nearly 3,000 dogs, cats, puppies and kittens in need of serious medical attention with Cinderella Fund resources, and delivered preventative medications and general medical care to about a total of 4,300 homeless pets awaiting adoption at the center.
