RICHMOND SPCA VOLUNTEER INTRANET

Welcome to the Richmond SPCA Volunteer Intranet! Active volunteers may use this page to sign up online for volunteer jobs, download important documents, view and post updates and news, and more! Because training is required for most volunteer assignments at the Richmond SPCA, much of this information is password protected and viewable by active volunteers and current employees only. Be sure to read your weekly volunteer eNewsletter for the latest updates and job needs.

If you need any assistance with volunteer matters, please contact Coordinator of Volunteers and Programs Michelle Russell at mrussell@richmondspca.org, or Volunteer and Programs Assistant Wilson Nelms at wnelms@richmondspca.org. You may also call the volunteer office at 804-521-1329.

Please remember to always park in the side lot or on the street and use the back door instead of the main entrance which may be locked. When you turn off of Hermitage Road onto Rhoadmiller Street, instead of making the first right into the main lot with the large Richmond SPCA sign, make the second right into the lot.

Sewing Club:

Our Sewing Club meets in the second floor auditorium of the Robins-Starr Humane Center every Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. with their sewing machines and supplies. Club members make pet blankets and other items such as cat hammocks for use by the animals in our care, as well as make items for sale in our Lora Robins Gift Shop. They also repair, reuse and repurpose old bedding from our laundry room. Sewing experience is not necessary, only willingness to help! If you don’t have a machine of your own, they will find a suitable project for you.  Everyone is welcome to bring a sewing machine and/or basic sewing supplies.  Bring yourself, bring a friend.  There is no obligation to commit to every Saturday, it is merely to let you know that someone from the club is here each week.

For anyone wanting to make donations to the Richmond SPCA for use by the Sewing Club, the following items are their greatest need:

  • Fabric (flannel and fleece are favorites; denim weight or other sturdy fabrics preferred)
  • Gift cards to Hancock or Jo-Ann Fabrics
  • Quilt batting
  • Fiberfill stuffing
  • Thread

You can find Sewing Club updates in the weekly volunteer eNewsletter. If you are interested in joining the Sewing Club, simply stop by the auditorium on Saturday to get started!
