Charity Navigator: Four Star Charity

Every year at the Richmond SPCA's Fur Ball, which benefits our Cinderella Fund for ill and injured orphaned animals, we auction the opportunity to serve as our mascot for the coming year. In 2009, Nemo Drezek and his family represented the Richmond SPCA's dogs and cats beautifully. What a wonderful four-legged friend!

Nemo's Story

Hello, my name is Nemo! I have been so proud to be the face of the organization that I love so much. Now, let me tell you a little about myself.

I came to live with my mother and grandmother about 8 years ago and have been pampered ever since. I'm lucky that my life has been full of comfy couches, good food, napping, snuggling, car rides and, best of all, sleeping in the bed, and am proud to help bring attention to all of the pets who are waiting for a place to live and someone to love them. I enjoy being a good ambassador for dogs of all shapes and sizes wherever I go, and am also dedicated to protecting our family cat Rae Rae from the rambunctious behavior of my fellow dog in the house Zoso. I also share my life with Dexter, a Red Eared Slider, and Howie and Tabitha, Sulcatta Tortoises.

Beyond my typical daily doggy activities I have many other hobbies and interests. I am a frequent attendee of Richmond SPCA events; I look forward to the Fur Ball and Dog Jog every year. I am the manager of my parents’ athletic race team, so my spring and summer are very busy coaching them and giving them pointers. I love to go to the beach and roll in the sand, and chase Frisbees and crabs. Every year we celebrate my birthday with a party, it's great fun!

Your friend,
