Workshop: Dealing with Distractions
Instructor: Alisha Fritz

Monday, December 10, 2018 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM

Once a dog has learned his or her basic manners, it's beneficial to help them learn to respond to their human even in distracting situations.  This workshop will cover the concepts of how distance, duration, and difficulty effect your dog's reaction to distractions.  We'll discuss how to help them learn to give attention back to you when they are interested in something with a strong emphasis on helping them believe that you are more exciting than the resident squirrels. Enrolled dogs should have been introduced to basic manners such as sit, down, stay, come, and leave it, and should be under control in the presence of other dogs and humans. They must also be up-to-date on vaccinations and at least 6 months old.

Please bring to workshop:
- Dog wearing flat collar (body harness also okay)
- 4-6 ft leash, no retractable leashes
- Plenty of soft/stinky treats that your dog loves- e.g. hot dogs, string cheese, chicken
- Something to carry treats such as a training pouch or pockets (plastic sandwich bag will not work well)
