Intro to Flyball

Instructor: Emily Neal - Intro to Flyball is designed for dogs and handlers with no previous Flyball experience. Looking for something new and different to try with your dog?  This is the game for you! Flyball is an exciting, fast-paced sport where a 4 dog relay team race over jumps. Each dog is sent over 4 jumps, hits a box spring-loaded with a tennis ball, and then returns over the jumps with the ball, then the next dog goes! The jumps are set 10 feet apart and the height is determined by the smallest dog on the team, so small dogs welcome. The world record for 4 dogs to complete the course is 14.1 seconds!  Your dog does not have to be a ball fanatic or a speed demon to play this game - any dog that likes to have fun and work hard can be successful. Dogs of all shapes, sizes, colors, and breeds can play. We will teach your dog the foundations of the sport, such as jumping the 4 jump pattern, retrieving the ball, and the basics of retrieving the ball from the box.

Enrolled dogs must be up-to-date on vaccinations and at least 1 year old (unless permission is given in advance by instructor). Dogs must be tolerant of other dogs and people in a high-energy environment. Dogs should have basic obedience training and be able to safely work off leash with their handler. Your dog needs to be in good physical condition to run, jump, and make quick turns, and mentally developed to understand the obedience skills noted. This 1 hour class meets for 7 weeks in our Track & Training Center.
