Members of the Richmond SPCA's Animal Brigade spend time helping out with projects around the Robins-Starr Humane Center and learning about the importance of humane animal care, and how to share that knowledge with others.
Middle school students in grades 6 through 8 who have a strong commitment to helping animals make great Animal Brigade members! To apply, please see the information listed below under the Getting Started heading. Dues for the Animal Brigade service club are $65 per semester and are collected at the first meeting.
All Animal Brigade activities have an educational or service component, sometimes both! Topics and activities vary depending on the needs of the Richmond SPCA and the animals in its care. Projects might include: socializing and bathing dogs, making cat toys, collecting wish list items for the animals, learning about issues facing homeless animals, passing out treats to animals, folding laundry, and learning about animal training.
The Animal Brigade is held in two different semesters: spring and fall. Both semesters consist of 6 sessions, held on Saturday mornings.
If you're interested in participating in Animal Brigade, please complete this application and email it to Michelle Russell at mrussell@richmondspca.org. Payment of Animal Brigade session dues of $65 can be made by cash or check at the first meeting of the semester. Checks can be made out to Richmond SPCA. Please do not send payment with your application.
Dates for our Fall 2018 semester have not yet been determined. Please check back for more information!
