Tom
Hi, I'm Tom. I'm a neutered male tabby.  I just got my rabies vaccine, and my foster mom thinks I'm about a 1 and 1/2 years old. I'm litter box trained, and I've never had an accident. I'm a little guy, but I have a big personality. I'm a little shy at first, but once I get to know you I'm a big sweety.  I'm always talkative, and I want to follow you around the house. Jake
Hi, I’m Jake, and I'm a two-year-old neutered hound mix.  My owner can’t keep me because I need a big fenced yard to play in and she doesn’t have one. I like to play with kids. I live with a cat and we get along just fine, but sometimes I want to play and the cat doesn’t. I can sit, shake, lay down and rollover, and I'm housetrained too! Dog parks are really no fun as everyone chases me! I am a very friendly and happy guy who loves children as well as adults. I have had my sweet Harley for almost five years now. She is the most lovable Rat Terrier. She gets along well with other dogs and children. She is very playful and in good health. Sunny and Stormy
These two young, male cats Sunny and Stormy need a new home! Sunny is a curious fellow, always trying to peak out a window. Hi! Mollie and Sasha are purebred Cairn Terriers in need of a loving home. They are not related but have lived together since they were just puppies. They are 12 years old, spayed, crate trained and house-trained.They are very cheery, sweet dogs who would love a home where they could receive regular love and attention. Hi I am looking to find a good home for my 4-year-old, female pit bull named Trina. She is an incredibly sweet girl and loyal companion. She is wonderful with people of all ages. She is able to be in a home with another dog, but she must meet the dog first. Trina is an athletic dog and likes to go to the park to play ball. She is leash trained and walks by your side on a short leash. Trina graduated her manners class from the Richmond SPCA and knows how to sit, down, stay, and shake. Greta has had several homes but no forever home. She's calm, quiet and, very grateful for any show of affection. Greta is great with kids cats and other dogs friends. Shelby is grey, spayed female cat, between one and two years old, with black tabby stripes and some white fur on her neck, face, and belly. Her front paws are declawed. Hi my name is Lily! I am a 5-year-old walker hound who was found on the side of the road and brought to the vet. I had been hit by a car and had serious injuries. This sweet Ball of fluff is Catnip Baby. Though he is sweet and adorable, I can not afford to keep this beautiful feline. This is Jack. He is a seven year old mixed breed. For the first five years of his life, he lived at the veterinary school at Virginia Tech. I adopted him when his “term of service” was over. Jack is a very sweet, gentle dog who gets along with animals and humans of all ages. Though he loves attention from his humans, he is also content to just hang out on the couch while his humans are busy. He enjoys walks with his owner and his housemate and he does well on hikes. Though Jack is an awesome dog, he does have some issues. He has a mild storm phobia and also has allergies, for which he receives medication and shots. I will happily show his new owners how to give these shots and provide all of the paperwork that our doggy dermatologist gave us. Savvy is mixed lady kitty born in a friend's house in Oregon Hill, three years old, spayed and with all her shots up to date. Roxy and Gizmo
Hi, we are Roxy (Female min pin) and Gizmo (Male chihuahua). We have lived together since we were each approx. 8 weeks old. We are approx. 7.5 years old now, and we weigh about 20 lbs each. Nemo
Meet Nemo! Cary Street Veterinary Hospital rescued Nemo from a local shelter in April 2011 with a severe right forelimb deformity that later resulted in the amputation of the limb. At the time of his amputation he was also neutered. His left front wrist curves inward and currently he wears a brace for joint support and potential correction of this irregularity. On three legs, he loves to run, play, and generally be goofy.  He is a 26 pound mixed breed, estimated to be 1.5 to 2 years of age.  Adorable in every way, he is amazingly sweet and incredibly loving to anyone or anything (aside from an occasional nibbling on a matchbox car or two). Nemo is kid, dog, cat and house friendly. He is well-adjusted and managed to settle into his foster family’s home (of two young boys, one dog, and one cat) within a day and with very few hiccups. He is crate trained and quickly adapted to the potty routine. His fosters are working with him on basic canine commands and fine tuning his not so bad manners. This is Keira, a 5-year-old Lab mix who needs a good home with no cats, small children, or other dogs. She is house trained, knows basic commands, and can walk on a leash pretty well.  She loves to play fetch and her favorite activity is playing with water in the backyard. You just need a spray nozzle and 10 minutes to make her the happiest dog ever!  Keira is dealing with some stranger anxiety. We are working with a trainer to help her get over her fears, but she still work to get her comfortable with strangers. We are willing to show you what we do to help her in order to continue with her training.  Please be willing to fill out an adoption form, submit to a personal and home interview. I am looking for a new home for our dog, Tech. He is an 8-year-old lab mix. He is black with white markings, neutered and has just received updates on all his shots. He does not interact well with children (has never bitten or anything, just doesn't want anything to do with kids and would rather be left alone), he is house trained and sleeps in a crate at night, but loves to sleep in the bed too. He loves going on walks and playing fetch. Tech has been a wonderful dog, but we just can't give him the attention he needs since we now have 2 children under the age of 2. Lady
Lady is a fully grown, gray, long haired domestic cat. She has always been indoors except for fenced in porches/decks which she loves. She has been spayed and is up to date on her vaccinations. She has no health problems and does not require medication. Lady is extremely sweet and very cuddly. She is also very shy and can be very timid-but she warms up quickly and will soon love whomever she sees. Lady is very well behaved- no scratching! I have a large Lab that I rescued about 6 months ago that I need to find a forever home for.  He was with a family that was expecting a baby and he was a jumper so they were going to take him to the pound. We have been working on his jumping but that family states they are not able to take him back. He is a very sweet animal with people but with other dogs, he plays too rough and then he wants to dominate them.  We have many other dogs, many of them rescued, and he has been starting fights with them, thus we need to find him a home where he can be the primary focus. He is neutered and when I rescued him, I got him up to date on all of his shots for which I do have all of the records. He is approx 1 1/2 years old and weighs around 90 lbs. He is a very happy go lucky kind of guy. He is still a big chewer so whoever takes him has to know how to deal with that. Melodi
Melodi is a very affectionate (with adults) 4-year-old spayed female, brown mackerel tabby. While we love her very much, she does not get along with our two toddlers. Therefore she would need to be placed in a home with no young children. She also would need to be the only free roaming animal in the house for she does not get along with dogs or other cats. She seems to react well with caged animals. She has been around rats, rabbits, snakes, and Lizards. She also seems to be okay with fish, provided there is a lid on the tank. It would be best to have have her food, water and litter box in some out of the way area that is well lit. Her owners before us were not very nice to her so she might be a bit timid at first but after she got use to us she would climb in our laps and demand petting. Miles and India

Stanley came into my life in April 2009 when he needed a new home.  His story is that he was left behind when his family moved out of their apartment complex.  Stanley roamed around the community making friends and obtaining hand outs where ever he could.  He lived this way for years and was even mentioned in the apartment complexes lease agreement as part of the community.  Stanley is very loving, low key, and friendly towards all people.  After having Stanley for about a year, my relationship got serious and we moved into a new apartment complex.  Stanley continued to go in and out of our apartment, until one day when he ventured too far and got lost for six days.  Due to getting lost and the large amount of stray cats in my area, I've decided that Stanley should not be allowed to go outside anymore.  In addition, my partner felt very strongly about getting a puppy, so we have a new member of the family.  We've tried to give it time for the two of them to get along but Stanley hates the puppy and has scratched her many times with his claws.  Stanley is not happy being an indoor cat, he is unhappy about not being able to move freely around the house without the puppy trying to interact with him, he needs to be the only pet in a home.  He is a black and white male, who has been neutered, he is up to date on his shots, and he is on no medications.  If interested, call Tracy at 804-301-1794.

Hi my name is Max. I am a 4-year-old lab/hound mix and full of energy. I love large spaces to run preferably ones that are fenced in. I don't mind sharing my space with other dogs but not a fan of cats or small children. I am a medium size dog about 40 lbs, up to date with all of my shots, and neutered. I have all of my medical records with me. My owners love me very much but I rather be with older kids who won't try to ride me or tug on my hair. I know how to sit, shake, and lay down. Zoso
Zoso is a beautiful 6-year-old Lab/hound mix (neutered) who loves to play hard then relax even harder. He needs your attention and love but he gladly gives it back twofold and can easily make you feel like the most special person in the world. While Zoso currently lives in a 3 dog house he really likes being the only dog in your life. Zoso is housetrained and knows some basic commands. He also lives with a manageable health issue called Addison’s Disease. Overall it’s very easy to manage. He loves to snuggle with you on the couch over a good movie or Animal Planet and he doesn’t mind helping himself to a spot on the bed. Zoso would be best in an active household with no other dogs or cats as well as no infants or toddlers due to his high energy play. Zoso is also on medication to help him deal with separation anxiety. We hope that you can help us find him a wonderful family and home that can provide what he needs. Delila
Delila is a shelter rescue. She is a 45 pound hound mix with pretty blue eyes and about 2 to 3 yrs of age. She loves all people she meets. Delila is very people oriented and would be happiest as an only dog. She is spayed, up-to-date on all of her shots and comes with a collar, leash and a toy. Ginger and Zoe
We have 2 indoor cats, Ginger and Zoe, who were adopted together from the SPCA when they were 3 months (they’re from the same litter). They both just turned 6 years and are still great furry friends, but with our second baby on the way we can’t give Ginger and Zoe the time and attention they need and deserve. We’re looking for someone who would like to adopt Ginger- she especially needs regular playtime since she's full of energy (she likes lap time too, once she's worn out). If the right adopter was really interested, we’d love to keep Ginger and Zoe together by having them both be adopted.
Ginger and Zoe are both super sweet. Ginger loves playtime that involves chasing, batting, and fetching toys (she seems to think she's part dog!). She also likes to be snuggly at nap time and bedtime. Zoe is super laid back and just wants to lay around and be pet all day. Their pictures are attached (Ginger is short haired with white paws and neck; Zoe is long-haired and mostly gray).
Both kitties are up to date on their annual vet check ups and shots and in great health. Anyone interested in adopting would need to be ok with them continuing to be indoor-only kitties and would not have either of them de-clawed. Both kitties are great with children, but need to be re-homed where they can be the only animals, as they are now.
