2012 Fundraising Goal: $131,000

ABOUT THE DOG JOG AND 5K RUN
In 2011 our Dog Jog and 5K Run, presented by Car Pool, raised more than $125,000 for the orphaned animals cared for by the Richmond SPCA. Nearly 600 dogs joined by their families and more than 500 runners came out to show their support at this fun pet- and family-friendly event last year. The Holiday Barn Vendor Fair attracted several thousand people who enjoyed kids' activities, pet activities, giveaways, vendor tables and so much more.

We look forward to meeting or exceeding that success in 2012, with a fundraising goal of $131,000! Raising donations is easier than you might think, and top fundraisers will earn great prizes! Any registered participant may customize their own fundraising web pages and send emails to friends and family. We welcome all Richmond SPCA supporters to come out, cheer on our runners and walkers, and visit our vendor fair. All events take place at our Robins-Starr Humane Center, located at 2519 Hermitage Road in Richmond, Virginia. All events are pet friendly except for the 5K Run, which is for people only. Participants may register individually or as part of a team, and have the option of raising donations to help support the pets cared for by the Richmond SPCA. For additional information, please contact Lisa Clarke at 804-521-1318 or lclarke@richmondspca.org.

A special thanks to Donna Beames and Christie Bieber who serve as Dog Jog and 5K Run 2012 committee co-chairs.

MICROCHIP YOUR PET
Stop by the Pet Wellness Tent, sponsored by Veterinary Emergency and Speciality Center, during the Dog Jog and 5K Run to have your pet microchipped by VESC staff. It's only $20, which includes the microchip and initial registration with 24PetWatch. It's quick, easy and low cost!

DRESS UP YOUR DOG AND JOG
Enter your dog in this fun contest where prizes, compliments of MARTIN’S and The Times-Dispatch, will be awarded in three different categories: Best Dressed Canine Overall (awarded to the dog whose costume most knocks our socks off), Most Creative Couple (awarded to the best dog/person costume combo), and Best Logo-Colored Canine (awarded to the dog whose costume incorporates the most lime green and teal blue – the logo colors of the Richmond SPCA)! Register for this contest the morning of the event from 9:30 to 10:45 at The Times-Dispatch tent in the vendor fair. Winners will be announced during the awards ceremony around noon.
