Olive

Olive
Olive is a beautiful 11-year-old female tortoise with big, beautiful green eyes. I think she is a smart cat because she knows her name. She has lived as an indoor cat all of her life. She enjoys sunning herself on a protected deck or sunroom or finding a favorite chair to relax on or is happy sitting near your feet. Olive has lived in one home her whole life until recently. Due to eldercare needs and issues, my parents moved in with my sister and her husband. Olive loves to be petted and brushed but does not much care for playing, cat toys, or catnip; although she has shown some interest in a laser toy. Olive is beautiful to look at and will lightly nudge to get her owner’s attention but other than that she is very chill and easy going. I feed her dry food and a very occasional treat. She likes to drink water and like to have a bowl with water at all times. She has no problems using a litter box. I have been using the Tidy Cats (no smell) system and will provide the litter box and supplies as well as cat bowls. She was most recently thoroughly checked by a vet and was declared healthy. She is also spayed. She is not at all needy and with regular food and water, Olive is a perfect pet; possibly best for an older owner. I would love for Olive to be taken care of because she is very special. Olive would do best in a home without other cats or dogs. For more information about Winston, please contact Theresa at 804-382-8601 or tree0202001@yahoo.com.

WilfredWilfredWilfred

Wilfred
Wilfred is an incredibly smart, gentle, and mellow hound/lab mix. He is about four years old and weighs about 75 pounds (ten of those pounds need to come off!). Wilfred is up to date on his shots and has been neutered. He plays well with other dogs and would make a great buddy for yours if yours needs a friend. He is cat friendly and child friendly. Wilfred is comfortable in his skin, does not bark often *but has a very cute one when he does*, is loving, and is not super needy or an attention hog. His soft spot is behind his ear and he will gaze into your eyes forever when you do it. Wilfred is a really great dog! Please contact Rebecca to meet Wilfred at 571-212-0298 or rebecca@rebeccadangelo.com.

AceAceAce

Ace
Our dog, Ace, is in need of a new home. Ace is a German Shepherd mix approximately 4-5 years old. He likes to sleep indoors in his dog bed, and he loves belly rubs. Ace is an experienced hiker and can keep up at any pace. He has had professional obedience classes and is eager to please. He is house trained and sleeps through the night in his dog bed without having to go outside. He stays in his crate when we are not home. Ace needs to go to a home with an experienced large-breed dog owner. He does not get along with most dogs or cats. Ace should be in an adult-only home, as he displays protective behaviors that make him unpredictable around small children. If you believe you are interested in adopting Ace, please email call, or text me and I will get back to you as soon as possible: 804-938-9453 or hillse13@gmail.com. He is a neutered male and is up to date on vaccinations.

Rocco

Rocco
Rocco is a 3-year-old Rottweiler mix and is 60 pounds. He is fun and energetic! He loves to have a lot of attention. He has been neutered and is up to date on vaccinations. Rocco loves to meet new people but should not be around other dogs (any other animal he is good with) but he is great with kids and loves to play. We are looking for a great home for him where he can continue to get all of the love and attention that he has been receiving since he has been with our family at 8 weeks old. We have to let him go because we are expecting our first child and Rocco’s natural hyperactive energy would be too much of a risk for a small infant. We are hoping to have him go to another amazing family that will love him like we did. He is house trained and we can provide his kennel, dog dishes and current food to get you started. If you are interested in Rocco and being able to meet him please call Toni at 804-386-9494.

Spar

Spar
This is Spar. She's a 3-year-old sweetie. She loves all humans but would do best in a home without other cats. She can be shy at first but does love affection once she is comfortable around you. She's a tiny little thing. She has been spayed and vaccinated. She was a feral rescue. We are moving out of town next month and are unable to take her. She likes to go outside sometimes when the weather is nice. Please contact Angie 804-562-4820 to learn more. Her litter box will be provided.

Maltie

Maltie
Maltie is a 2-year-old male feral rescue. His mother abandoned him when he was just a few weeks old. He has been neutered and has his shots. He is super sweet and loves to cuddle. He loves kids. We are sad that we have to give him up but we are moving out of town next month and into an apartment. He is an indoor/outdoor cat. Please contact Angie at 804-562-4820 to learn more. His litter box will be provided.

BoxerBoxer

Boxer
Boxer is a 5-6 yr old black Maine coon mix. He is front paw declawed (done before rescue), but loves his scratching arch. He prefers to come up to you to cuddle versus being picked up. Has a big "purr motor" and loves being pet. He is a catnip toy lover! He is confident and sure of himself and his surroundings. He would do best in a home without other cats. He willingly wears his collar and is okay on a leash for a walk on the patio. He has a little white patch of fur on his belly, which he shows as he rolls around on the floor. Boxer weighs around 13 pounds. Please contact Kari to learn more: keasterl@mail.umw.edu.

BonnieBonnieBonnie

Bonnie
Bonnie is a loveable Maltese/Pekinese mix. She is 7 years old and is the ideal lap dog. I travel too much for work and she deserves a nice family to keep her company. She is spayed, up to date on all her shots and weighs about 10 pounds. She can be nervous around big dogs when she’s on a leash but if you give her time and a little reassurance she will get along with other animals. She loves attention and people! Please call 804-349-8699 and leave a voicemail regarding Bonnie to learn more. You can also email me at: mcanultyc@gmail.com.

Ashes

Ashes
Ashes is a very loving older cat. She is up to date on all her shots. She is very sweet and loving. I got her from a family member who was unable to care for her anymore due to allergies and her original owner is in the Navy and travels a lot. She does not get along with my dog but tolerates him. My other kitten annoys her. She did grow up with other cats, so she does try to get along. The other cat will have none of it. I think she would do amazing as a single cat with older people looking for a companion. She loves to cuddle on your lap for hours. Please consider this angel for your home. Questions? Please email me at peashes81@aol.com.

BellaBella

Bella
I’m Bella and I am 3 years old. I am spayed and up to date on all my medications and vaccinations. I’m what’s called an Ori Pei – half Shar Pei, half Pug. I’ve lived with my mom my whole life but now she is having health problems so I need to find a new home where I can get the time and love I need and deserve. I get along well with other animals. I love to go for walks – they’re my favorite thing in the world! I’m a very good girl. I don’t bark a lot, just when someone comes up to the door. I’m a little shy until I get to know you. If you would like to learn more about me, please email: vikizaw@yahoo.com.

BrodieBrodieBrodie

Brodie
Brodie is a 6-year-old beagle mix who is very active. He loves going for a walk or go to doggy daycare. He is house trained and crate trained. He loves to smell everything around him. He is very curious about other dogs and kids. Brodie will jump up on people and will chew items if left unattended, so some basic manners training would benefit him greatly. He loves treats but prefers attention. His owner is unable to care for him due to mobility issues. He loves to hide his toys and enjoys raw hide bones. He's neutered and up to date on vaccines. Please contact Alison (the daughter of the owner) at 434-426-8066 to learn more about this handsome canine.

Kita

Kita
Meet Kita, a beautiful 2-year-old spayed Akita mix. She is a sweet and playful girl who is looking for a permanent place to call home. Kita currently lives with children; and while she has played with other dogs in the past, she would prefer to be the only pet in the household. Unfortunately, due to moving restrictions her current family is forced to find a new home for her. Kita loves to play fetch, go for long walks and snuggle with her people. Please call Christina at 804-229-4197 to learn more.

Mattie Lou

Mattie Lou
Can you help our Mattie Lou? Sadly the home she's been in for the past 3 years has become a hoarder household, and her health and safety are at risk. She is looking for a new forever home with another canine pal and a fenced in yard. She's a 5-6 year old Shiba Inu, is spayed and current on all shots, and a fantastic companion. She is house trained. Mostly she just wants to be where her people are, get lots of scratches, toss around a stuffed toy or two and nap on something comfortable. She looks like a cross between a Husky, a teddy bear and a fox! Her face is really expressive and she can be quite a goof. She does shed and has seasonal allergies, so whoever adopts her will probably want to brush her every day or two and give her an over-the-counter allergy pill when she's drippy. Please call or text Ashley at 804-239-3959 or email solongstatusquo@gmail.com to learn more.

Arthur

Arthur
Arthur is an 11-year-old black cat who was rescued from an alley as a very young kitten with scar tissue that occludes his right eye and makes it squinty and cloudy. He can see just fine and requires no extra care. He just looks like a funny pirate. Arthur is a long, lanky guy who loves to play and nap. He's very affectionate, although not a lap cat. He would rather lie near you, happily, than on you. He's alert, fun and comes when you call his name! His personality has always reminded visitors of Kramer from Seinfeld - just a lovable goofball. Arthur has not been his happy self since we introduced a child into the home, and he is so starved for affection that he has become very needy. Without the child there, everything is great, so I'd recommend him for a house with people who like to play, have no kids, and no other pets (although he does get along well with dogs). I'd love Arthur to live out the last half of his life in a home where he can get the attention he deserves. Arthur does have one quirk, in that he tends to pee standing up, so he requires a special tall litter box that he has no problem using and I have no problem sending with him. He is neutered and up to date on vaccinations. To learn more about Arthur, please email or call: showson@gmail.com or 804-399-9760.

FosterFosterFoster

Foster
Meet Foster! Foster is a 7-month-old hound mix, maybe with some pointer, who is spayed and up to date on all of her shots. Her current family has been fostering her for several months thinking they might keep her, but three dogs is just too much (they have two of their own)! Foster gets on great with all members of her family and loves to play with her two canine companions. She is a quick learner and not too much of a barker. She is spunky, sweet, and playful. She is shy and nervous at first when meeting humans and other dogs, but it usually lasts about ten minutes. Ignoring her when you first meet her is best. She is potty and crate trained. Her crate and her walking harness will be included with whomever decides they are going to be her forever home. Please contact Keri to spend some time with Foster and see if she is a great fit. We think a home with another dog would be good for her or someone who is active and wants to take her on adventures. Name and contact information: Keri, 540-354-7444 (based in Roanoke, VA).

SamLittleKittySamLittleKitty

Sam and Little Kitty
Sam is a tan tabby male cat who has been neutered and front paws declawed. He weighs approximately 15 pounds and is 8 years old. He is very friendly but may be a little shy for a week or so in a new home. He is trained for a cat litter box and is very reliable in using it. Sam loves to be petted and seeks out affection from his owner. Sam has lived with a pit bull terrier for several years with no problem but they were not great friends – just shared the same home. His favorite and only scatting article is an 8.5 x 11” card board back of a paper tablet. Sam is very friendly with everyone including small children. He has all necessary shots. He currently lives with a black domestic cat, Little Kitty. They get along very well. Little Kitty is a black domestic cat approximately 5 years old and weighs 8-10 pounds. She is trained for a cat litter box but also likes to go outside. She has been spayed. She too has lived with a dog for several years with no problem. Little Kitty is very friendly with everyone including small children. She has all her shots. We have to give up our cats because we are moving into a retirement home and cannot take her with us. Please email pbswansey@comcast.net to learn more.

RajRaj

Raj
Raj is a big, gorgeous guy who needs to be an only pet. He is a striking beauty with his jet black coat and nearly 22 lb body. He is a sweet, inquisitive, and very playful cat who needs the right adult caretaker(s) to give him a safe and calm home. Raj currently lives with 5 other cats and is very aggressive with two of them. Because of his cat aggression, he spends almost all of his time in a room alone. He has been through a lot; his first owners abandoned him for a month in an apartment with no food and only toilet water to drink, he then lived in a cage at a vet's office for a year before entering his current home where he has been for a year and a half. He is probably about 4 years old. Raj should definitely not live with other cats or children, and it is unknown how he is with dogs. He is very sweet and playful and loves to sit on your lap, but he does reach a limit where he has had enough and may swat or bite. Because of this, he would be a good fit for an experienced cat owner. He is neutered, current on shots, and in great health and has his paws crossed that he will find a home where he can get all the attention he deserves. Please contact Josie at adoptraj@gmail.com or 804-512-4660.

PreciousPeanutPreciousPeanut

Precious and Peanut
This is Precious and Peanut. They are both female, spayed and are about 6 years old. They are also up to date on shots. Peanut is very friendly with everyone she meets but Precious needs a little time to warm up (she doesn’t mind being picked up but will sometimes fuss). Both cats are strictly indoor cats. They don't mind dogs being around but they can probably do without them. They have not been around children. Precious and Peanut will come with litter, a litter box and food. To learn more, please email: JKirwan315@aol.com.

SnickersSnickers

Snickers
Hi, I'm Snickers. I am a 5-year old female gray and orange tortoiseshell kitty. I have white streaks on my face so it always looks like I've just sneezed from sniffing a bag of flour. I am in great health, have been spayed and am up-to-date on my vaccinations. I'm house-trained and don't eat table scraps or beg for food. My mom is getting older and is having a hard time taking care of me, which is why I am looking for a new home. I will miss her because cuddling, sleeping with her and keeping her company are my favorite things to do. Don't get me wrong - I'm shy and will hide until I get to know you, but when I do, you'll have a companion for life! I'm a kitty who needs all your attention, so I can't live with any other pets or small children because they'd distract you from loving on me. I'm excited to meet you and hope you'll get in touch with my mom's son-in-law to talk about adopting me right away. You can call him at 804-814-5273 or email him at jason5207@live.com since he's taking care of things for my mom. I've already told him to expect your call. I hope to make your day brighter soon!

Flynn

Flynn
I am looking to rehome my cat named Flynn. He'll be 5 in May. He is neutered and is up-to-date on all his vaccinations. He is an indoor cat (not declawed) that is low-key, calm, non-destructive, talkative, lazy, loveable, cuddly, and sociable. He is in need of a caretaker who is willing to let him be a lap cat, follow you everywhere, and who is willing to let him sleep in the bed, usually at your side or back. He loves people and doesn't enjoy being alone, so he will give you constant attention by hanging out in the same room with you and being as close as he can to you for as long as you will let him. I do not know how he would act around other cats. He tolerates the English bulldog with whom he currently resides, but he is a sensitive cat that does not do well with big, aggressive/energetic dogs. Please know that I the only reason I am re-homing him is because I love him enough to know that he needs more than I am able to give him. I have deliberated this decision for months, and I have determined that re-homing him is the best thing for his well-being. He is a wonderful, intelligent (smarter than the dog!), quirky little guy that completely converted me into a "cat" person, and he deserves someone who can give him the attention he so craves. Please contact Lindsay at pixseyz@gmail.com for more information.

OhOh

Oh
Hello, my name is Oh. Unfortunately my mama has to give me up since she is elderly and no longer able to care for me. She so hopes that someone will adopt me so I can live out the rest of my life in a loving and caring home. I am also up in age, myself. I am eleven years old and need special food for my kidneys. I have lived with only my mama for the last 7 years so I am not used to other pets like a dog but I have been around other cats. I do not have my front claws so I cannot stay outside. I am neutered and up to date on my vaccinations. I am part Siamese and tabby cat. My eyes are a beautiful blue and have a beautiful face. I love people but am not a cuddly kind of cat. But I do love to sleep with you and may snore a little. I would to find a new loving home. If you are interested in Oh, please email me at Db2Bryant@gmail.com for additional information.

JennyJennyJennyJennyJennyJenny

Jenny
Death, taxes, and Jenny greeting me at the door. This I know I can count on. Jenny is a young, fun, active Border Collie mix who just turned 3 years old. She has a slight to medium build and is approximately 50 pounds. She is spayed and up to date on all vaccinations and worm prevention. If you love Border Collies, Jenny is the right dog for you (even though she is clearly mixed, her personality is 100 percent BC!). She is fantastically smart, an excellent student, task oriented, high energy, gives great attention to detail, and demonstrates great stamina. As an added benefit, Jenny is very well housetrained, super affectionate, and already knows most basic obedience (everything from “sit” to “stay” to “play dead”). Jenny originally came to us as a rescue. And, like many rescues, Jenny has a few quirks. Namely that she can become quite anxious if you let her - compulsively licking, panting, and whining. These symptoms have been greatly reduced through medication, exercise, and training. Jenny also used to guard some high value food objects, like bones; however, in her current home, this guarding has been almost completely eliminated through training. Jenny's new family should understand that moving into a new home may trigger her guarding to flare up; however, with time and a training refresher, she should adjust perfectly. Jenny thrives with a "job" to do, and she would love to participate in agility training, go to work with her new owner, participate in competition obedience, flyball, Frisbee, tricks, hiking, scent work, or any other sport to keep her body and mind fulfilled. She is very smart and our trainer always remarks that she is a trainer's dream dog because of her focus and learning capabilities. She loves clicker training and thrives on modern, positive reinforcement training. Because of Jenny's love of training, and because we are so committed to her happiness and adjustment into a new home, we are willing to sponsor a couple of sessions with a pro if her new family is interested. Her ideal situation would be with a highly committed dog owner who wants a dog that they can do everything with. Someone who loves hiking, jogging, and training as much as Jenny does would be great! While she loves meeting new people and dogs, her anxiety gets triggered with too much stimulation, so she probably would do best in a calm home with no young children and no other dogs (though the right "role model" dog could help). Jenny will bring as much of her stuff along (bed, airline crate, toys, preventatives, etc…) as her new family will let her. Jenny is a very special girl and we are looking for the perfect home for her. A home where she can continue to thrive, and a home that can commit to owning such an intelligent, athletic girl. Please contact Adam at 301-233-4375 or homeforjenny@gmail.com if you’d like to learn more.

Duke

Duke
Duke is a pure bred blue nose pit bull, who is very loving. We have raised him since he was a puppy – he has been the best companion! He has the best temperament and has a great personality. We love him to death and hate to see him leave his family but he needs more attention than we will be able to give as we have a baby on the way. He is an attention hog and loves to be cuddled and we feel this wouldn't be fair to him. We want him to go to a home. Duke would do best in a home with older children (10+), and preferably no other dogs. He loves cats and chickens. He is neutered and up to date on vaccinations. Please contact hannahbacon7@hotmail.com to learn more.

Eva
Eva is a sweet dog, just over a year old. She gets along great with people and kids but would be best in a single pet home. She has some basic obedience training, is potty trained and crate trained and although just over a year, does well in her crate while her family is at work during the week. She tries hard to please and desperately needs a home as her foster family will no longer be able to keep her after Easter. Please email jennyharelson@gmail.com to learn more about this sweet girl!

TurkeyTurkey

Turkey and Corky
Turkey and Corky are in need of new homes as their owner is selling their house and is leaving for travel and education. The cats have always been house cats, though not declawed. One, Turkey, came to us from North Carolina, she has some Siamese and is very bright, curious, and for all her independence she loves to be petted and can demand her food be served on a regular basis. It was felt that she needed a companion when we were away so we sought out a second cat. Corky was a rescue from Baltimore and a truly scared cat. She will run and hide at the slightest provocation. But, when it’s time to eat she will push her suite mate aside. She loves women, men not so much. Both cats are nine years old and in good health. Call at 703-980-0130 or e-mail markcooper1966@gmail.com to learn more.

Leonardo and Anthony
Leonardo is a 2.5 year old neutered male. He is a domestic longhair, with possible Siamese breeding. He is fully vetted and up to date on all vaccines through Cary Street Veterinary Hospital. While he is shy at first, once he is comfortable with you, he warms up very well! He loves to be brushed and petted and will offer head rubs in return. He is bonded to his brother, Anthony, but seems to be more independent and does not have to stay with him. Leonardo will make an excellent companion and gets along well with other cats. Anthony is a 2.5 year old neutered male. He is a domestic shorthair. He is also fully vetted and up to date on all vaccines through Cary Street Veterinary Hospital. Anthony is shy around new people, but once he warms up to you, he loves attention. He tends to stay more on his own than his brother, making him an ideal independent feline companion! His is bonded to his brother, Leonardo, and would do best with him in the same household. Anthony gets along well with other cats. Both Leonardo and Anthony have not been around dogs or children, however if given the proper introduction, they may be just fine. Please consider taking both! CookieBuddyCookieBuddyCookieBuddy

Cookie and Buddy
This is Cookie and Buddy. They are 5 year old sibling Bombays. They have been spayed/neutered and are up to date on vaccines. I have had them since they were 4 months old. They have been a joy in our household. Unfortunately, my husband is in the Navy (he wasn't when we first got them) and I'm afraid the constant moving around we will be doing will not be healthy for them. They are such love bugs and love being cuddled. Cookie is the playful one, who is happy with just a hair tie. Buddy will curl up with you and want snuggles. They are all black, except for a white spot on their chest and on their stomachs, with beautiful, huge green eyes. Except when they were being fostered (back when we first adopted them), they have never been around young kids. I think they would be great in a family with older kids. They are not huge fans of other dogs in the house, however, would be fine with other cats (with an adjustment period, of course). If you are interested, or know someone who may be interested, you can call/text me, Krystin, at 804-335-7126 or email me at mercatanteke@vcu.edu.

I am Kitty Boo, a shorthaired tabby. I am spayed and up to date on my vaccines. I am approximately 6 months old. My foster parents found me a few months ago and I've been well taken care of and now I am ready for a forever home. I get along great with the other small dogs and children. I am very laid back and gentle. To date, I have never hissed at any animals or humans. I am a lover not a fighter. I have a lot of patience. Please adopt me! I would be a wonderful addition to my new family. If you want to meet me email treasurelyfe804@gmail.com.

Roux

Roux
Roux is a 6-year-old neutered female rescue chihuahua mix who is looking for a loving companion. She is up to date on vaccinations and is healthy. She is good with most dogs and cats, but would do best in a home without children. She is very loving and loyal. She loves to snuggle and will be by your side all day. She plays ball and does tricks, (she even likes being carried in a purse - anything to be next to you). She grew up in a California kennel and is afraid of being crated or being left for more than 2-3 hours alone. Roux would love to live where she could run free occasionally (she actually leaps!). Please, if you have this type of environment, consider adopting Roux. Email jtv32961@aol.com to learn more.

Bailey
Bailey is a 3-year-old AKC Boston Terrier. She has been spayed and is update to date on vaccinations. She loves the sun and all it has to offer. Bailey has slowed down considerably so she likes short walks rather than long ones. She gets her name from the unique color of her fur and a stand out chick when approaching other Boston terrier owners because of it, a very happy doggy at all times. She does not have a dominant bone in her. Bailey's breed is well known for hunting rodents such as mice and will find a job at getting rid of them. For more information please contact me: 510-779-7901 or 510-779-7898. I have all documents from birth.

Cosmo

Cosmo
Here is a lovable cat named Cosmo. He is 8 years old. Cosmo loves to play fetch like a dog and is otherwise a typical lap cat. He is a bit overweight, is neutered and is, all in all, good health. Due to me being separated from my husband and possibly losing my home, I have to find loving homes for my animals - this cat would be perfect for anyone. He is very good with other cats, almost like a mommy to the other cats. He has been around dogs and loves them. He has been around (female cats). For more information please call Rhonda at 804-739-2214.

AtticusAtticusAtticus

Atticus
We got Atticus from Richmond Animal Care and Control when he was 8 weeks old (he was born in December of 2007). He is a 75 pound neutered male and is up to date on all shots. He occasionally gets ear infections (especially if he goes in the river or is out in wet weather/snow). He’s over the “excited puppy” phase in life and has definitely settled into his relaxed phase. Atticus is very good with people and loves getting his ears rubbed. He is a great dog - good around kids (we have a 2 year old and 4 year old), loves walks but he will pull a little if a cat goes by and needs a large fenced yard. In good weather he loves spending his time outside. Our neighbors are close friends with him and frequently come to the fence to pet him. Our oldest daughter has been having allergic reactions and after numerous blood tests at MCV they’ve officially determined that she’s allergic to dogs. Her allergic reaction to Atticus causes severe eczema and intense scratching of the skin, so in the interest of our daughter we simply can’t have him in our home. We love him and just want to find him a family that will take good care of him. To learn more about Atticus please call or email Neil: 804-787-3945 or nharperc@gmail.com.

Charlie

Charlie
Charlie is a 3-year-old male black cat. He is neutered and up-to-date on his vaccinations. He's a sweet cat who wants to play but can sometimes be destructive. Charlie enjoys playing with string, mice and scratch posts, but watch out -- he can sometimes confuse your iPhone charger with a toy and chew right through it. He's fine with other animals as long as he can play with them, and he loves small dogs that are around his size. Charlie is in need of a friend who will cuddle with him and play with him, but also gives him his space to roam. For more information, call Jessica at 804-514-2370.

DarlingOreo

Darling and Oreo
Meet Darling and Oreo! Both dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered. Darling (female on the left) is a 5-year-old lab/chow mix with a big heart and a sharp intellect. She needs regular and patient stimulation. Oreo (male on the right) is an 8-year-old lab/pit mix who loves being lazy and will follow you around wherever you go. They are the best of pals and love each other, but are not the best with other dogs, though they love cats. They have lived most of their lives on a farm, so they need some additional leash training but are both quick learners, especially when treats are involved. Oreo has some separation anxiety since my mother was always home with them, so he would be the perfect dog for someone who is retired and looking for a companion. I would love to have them adopted together. My name is Meg and my phone number is 804-912-3178.

LibbieLibbie

Libbie
Libbie is a sweet, loving 6-year-old Spaniel mix. She loves affection and she is very eager to please. Libbie is house-trained and loves walking on a leash. She needs a home with a fenced- in backyard with plenty of room to run, as she is very active and loves being outside. Libbie has been a special member of our family for the last five years, but due to the space in our house and our growing family, we are no longer able to provide a good, active home for this sweet dog. She deserves much more time and attention than we are able to give her. She and our other dog have gotten along really well over the last five years; however, she can get possessive of food and toys, so we feed them separately. Due to her high energy level and need for attention, we feel Libbie would thrive in a home without young children. Libbie is spayed and up to date on all shots. She is on a heartworm preventative pill as well as a monthly flea and tick treatment. Please contact Ashley 804-514-8818 or ashley.raggi@gmail.com for more information.

Kozmoe

Kozmoe
Kozmoe will be 10 in April. We got him from a pet store on Broad Street that closed a few years ago. When we got him he had been neutered. April will be his second year on his three year vaccines. He is a standard tabby cat. He doesn’t have any special needs other than being a little older. He loves to have lap time, and enjoys playing with toys on strings. He does well with older kids. He does well with other cats once you get past the initial 'you're new' hissing. He is not a big fan of dogs. You can reach us at 804-523-0865, or by email, tenorio.jeremy@gmail.com to learn more about this adorable feline!

He’s honestly a joy to have and it’s extremely unfortunate that I can’t keep him. I hope to find him a super loving home. Feel free to text me or call me (Giulia) if interested 571-446-1944.

Lucy
Lucy is about 8 years old. She loves being outside, kids and babies (she’s gentle) and loves to go for runs. She is a little bit of an escape artist and needs a backyard with a good fence. Lucy is house trained and even does some basic tricks for a treat or two. She loves all people, sometimes to a fault. She has lots of life in her, still seems like a puppy! Lucy will be a great addition to your family and we are sad to see her go. Lucy is spayed and up to date on vaccinations. Please contact us to learn more: 804-307-5083 or awscaker@gmail.com.

Candy is a 13-year-old American pit bull who has been with the family since she was a pup. She is awesome with small kids and is very loving. She has been around for 6 babies growing in the family and she has also been great with small pups. She has been like the grandma of the family. She love to be petted and just laying down next to you. We are sad to have to give her away but we are more sad that's we cannot provide her with the attention that she needs. She deserves the best, and we are looking for the best for her. She is spayed and up to date on her shots. Please email alicerocha21@yahoo.com to learn more.

Baby
My name is “Baby” or "Grey Baby". I’m a domestic short hair mix. I lived out in the country for 8 years with a lot of other animals (a dog, a horse, peacocks, a donkey, guinea hens and another cat!) but my family moved away. I was left behind to live with another relative because my owner’s new apartment did not allow pets. I’m looking for a new home where I can have the freedom to roam around and be a part of a new family. I will love you unconditionally and give you constant head bumps! I like sitting in peoples laps (once I get to know you). Even though I’ve lived with other animals I would prefer a home of my own. I’m 9 years old, altered and up to date on vaccinations. Please call 804-744-3421 to learn more about me!

Cage
Unfortunately, we have to find another loving home for our cat, Cage. Ever since we have brought our twins home, he has started to pee in their things every once in awhile. We have had him for 5 years and he has never done this before. He is a very loving cat, we just cannot tolerate the accidents with babies around. We are hoping a home without babies will love him just like we have. Cage is up to date on vaccinations and is neutered. He loves going outside, and actually prefers going out to do his business, rather than use a litter box. He loves to snuggle, gets along with other cats and dogs. My contact info is: jstevens737@gmail.com.

Hank
Hi my name is Hank. I’m a 5-year-old pure breed dapple dachshund that wants to be your new side kick. I just like to be around you, whether we are outside playing ball, going for a short walk or snuggling on the couch. I love tennis balls and will chew them to pieces if you let me! I am a great protector and will bark if I hear anything suspicious. You can leave me in the house while you’re at work. I don’t chew your things and I’m potty trained so only have accidents in the house if I’m upset. I have never been crated so prefer to have open space to roam around. I love to snuggle up with you in the evening and will gladly sleep in the bed if you let me! I would fit best in a house with people that are home more often. I can go a full 8 hours by myself, but prefer to see you more often so that I don’t get upset. I like other dogs that are passive in nature as I am more of a dominant guy. I have been known to bark/nip at strangers and get nervous around dogs and people that I have never met. I would do best in a household that spends most evenings and weekends at home. I am okay around kids, but when they act nervous it makes me nervous too! I would love to meet you and get to know you a little bit before making my big move! I'm up to date on all my vaccines and am neutered. If you are interested in meeting me, please contact rbrhoney@gmail.com for more information.

Coco
Coco will be 4 years old 11/10/2015. She is spayed and up to date on shots. She will be rehomed with her food and heartworm preventative. Coco is very lovable, loves to cuddle but also enjoys her own space. She is housetrained, crate trained and knows most basic commands, however we are still working on not going into the trash can. She does well with other dogs (as long as she is supervised) but would do best in a home without cats. Coco gets along with humans of all ages and sizes! She tends to jump on people but is gentle about it. Please contact Erica to learn more: 804-300-0901 or efaughn@gmail.com.

Cara Mia and Jake
I am reluctantly putting up Cara Mia and Jake for adoption because I have developed a severe reaction to cat dander. I would like to find someone to adopt both of them because they have been companions to each other nearly all their lives. They are sweet natured, indoor cats and can be petted but they do not like to be held and will not sit on your lap. They are 8-9 years old and are declawed. I am putting them up for adoption in early February 2015 as a pair. Because of my severe allergy, a friend is keeping them. They are both spayed and up to date on vaccinations. Please contact me if you would like to learn more: 804-291-7079 or 804-921-7079.

Lucy
My family is looking to rehome our 6.5 year old beagle mix that we adopted 5 years ago. Lucy is a wonderful, sweet and beautiful 35 lb dog. She's intuitive and trainable (she knows a few commands such as "sit", "come", "stay", and "leave it"). She loves walks and hikes. She enjoys being pet, brushed and getting belly rubs. She isn't particularly needy. She's happy to lay by you on the couch, or simply be in the same room. At night she sleeps quietly in her bed on our bedroom floor. Unfortunately, Lucy seems to have a fear regarding strangers and children. Lucy does warm up to new people after a short time and becomes very comfortable and sweet as she has with members of our extended family. We're hoping to find her a stable home where she can better thrive. The ideal setting would be a child-free house in a quiet neighborhood where she can be walked daily and be let out into a fenced yard to relieve herself. She doesn't mind being shut in a room while guests or service workers are over. Lucy is spayed, micro-chipped, and up to date on her vaccines. She had a heart worm test and fecal analysis last month. She's in perfect health other than a recommended teeth cleaning which she will receive prior to adoption. We will ask for a reasonable adoption fee which will be used to offset the cost of her teeth cleaning. Please email broy@cavtel.net to inquire about Lucy.

Riley and Hazel
Riley and Hazel are six-year old siblings from the same litter. Mostly or all Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler, these dogs are smart, energetic and so very loving. They live for the outdoors but love to snuggle on the couch, too. Riley loves everything: people, new smells, anything made out of food, and even gets along well with other dogs once he gets to know them. Hazel is a little quirky, but she follow's Riley's lead. She is a bit more protective and can be nervous around new people, but she is a forever friend once you get her seal of approval. Both dogs are up to date on shots and vet visits; Riley is neutered and Hazel is spayed. Neither dog has any experience around children. Their ideal home is one where they can have space to be together, play together, and fall in love with your family. For more information: adamhastings@gmail.com.

Molly

Molly
Molly is a sweet 1-year-old girl that loves to be held and will tell you when she wants attention. She knows her name and will often come when called. She loves to play with almost any toy, especially string chasers, laser pointers and any toy she can chase. She is food motivated and does well with dogs, cats and ferrets. We have not had her around any children, but she would probably do well. She is still learning the appropriate scratching surfaces but scratches her posts most of the time. Also, she likes playing chase with my other cat, but will tell him off for any boxing games. She is spayed and has her rabies vaccination. He does try to steal food from my other cats, but is learning not too. If interested please contact me at 412-477-8177 or amhall0602@gmail.com. You may also text me if preferred.

Thor

Bisou
Hi. My name is Bisou. I’m a Labrador mix and am 8.5 months old. My current owner cared for me after I had a near death experience. I’ve been nurtured since 2 months of age and have grown into a fun, incredibly loving and energetic pup! I love to play ball and enjoy running. I don’t like my leash to drag on the ground so if you let it go I will have to pick it up and run with it in my mouth. I love to play fetch but I’d rather not give you back the ball unless you trade a treat for it. I love to snuggle and will happily nap wherever you let me. I love to give kisses and will follow you around just to make sure you are okay. I love to watch you cook in the kitchen and if you want I’ll lie next to you while you read or watch a movie. But I’ll always want to play outside so if you have a fenced in yard that would be great. I know a lot of my commands. I can sit stay (for a bit), come, go down and more! I am a faster learner too so we can learn more tricks if you want to take the time to teach me! I love to play with other dogs and anyone else who will play with me. I am easily excitable and lots of fun. I’ll be a great pick-me-up whenever you need. I love my crate and I’ll sleep in there if I can’t sleep in the bed with you (but I will never turn down an offer to snuggle). I can’t wait to meet you! I am neutered and up to date on my shots. Please contact Jasmine to learn more about me: 804-307-4913 or mailto:ms.jasminemajor@gmail.com.

Thor
Thor is up to date on his vaccinations as of the end of January 2015. He also tested negative for heart worms during this visit. He was neutered at the Richmond SPCA prior to adoption. Thor is a very loving dog who appreciates lots of attention. He has a lot of energy (probably from the Labrador and husky in him) that can be a blast at the park or in a big yard. He loves to chase tennis and racquet balls and sometimes brings them back. He is about 3 years old and in great shape. He knows how to sit, lay down, shake hands, stand up, and is very willing to learn new tricks for treats. We have been feeding him the grain-free dog food from Costco and all natural treats for the entire time we have owned him. Because of his high energy, size, and enthusiasm for play, I wouldn't recommend leaving him around small children. He generally does well playing with other dogs, but gets very excited when he sees another one on the leash. You can email me (kmontgomery01@gmail.com) or call/text my cell at 804-898-9196. I generally work from 8-5 on weekdays, and am available outside of those hours. Thank you!

Aussie
Aussie is our little man that we need to find a home for. He is a 10-year-old Blue Merle Miniature Aussie. He is very protective of his home and his owners. He can be quite fearful of strangers but has always been very loving and gentle toward us. We crate him whenever we have visitors as he gets very anxious and protective. He is very obedient and quite smart. He is used to being inside part time but loves to run outside as Aussies do. He is 10 years old and is up to date on all shots. He is fine being boarded and plays well with other dogs. He is up to date on his vaccinations. Aussie would do best in a home without small children, and one where with room for him to run around and play! Looking for a home with room to run, play without small children. Leyland
Hello, my name is Leyland. I’m a 8-year-old orange tabby cat that enjoys long walks around the house (outside is for the birds) and cuddling up with anyone that will pet me even the mini human (aka the toddler). When I’m not playing with the dog I like to hunt any bug that dares to enter but since I don’t have claws I have to get creative (see photos). Jumping up on counter tops has never been my thing so you’re on your own if you see one up there. Thanks to always being up to date on all of my shots I’ve never been sick, you could say that I’m as strong as a lion. ROAR! If I could have any cat play me in a movie it would be Puss in Boots from Shrek, he’s adventurous yet loves to be around people AND he can do my cute really big-eyes thing. Yep that’s me. If you’re interested you can email bridgettelappas@gmail.com.

Pancake
Pancake is an 8-year-old black and tan Coonhound mix. She is a very sweet dog that enjoys family time, catching balls mid air, running and pulling her people friends behind her on a skateboard or sled! She loves children and other dogs and has lived peacefully in a house with cats in the past. She is up to date on her shots and spayed. She loves to run so much that she may try to escape a backyard if left unattended. She has a wire backyard trolley system that can be donated with her if desired! Inside the house she is very calm and snuggly. She is fully house trained. She is looking for a new home because a child in her current home has recently had autoimmune and allergy issues which has forced her to be confined to only a certain areas of the house. She truly wants to spend time with the family and we hope that she is able to find a family that appreciates her sweet and gentle nature! Call Jen at 540-272-3868 to learn more.

My dog Wyntah [pronounced winter, like the season] is a 9-year-old collie lab mix, with the markings of Rottweiler - black and tan colored. She weighs 33 pounds. She will turn 10 years old on October 17. She is spayed and up to date on her shots. She loves people of all ages – babies, children and adults. She is an indoor only dog minus playing outside. She loves to run and play, and has tons of energy. Wyntah thinks she is a person and understands you when you talk to her. Daisy
This is Daisy. She is a 13-month old walker/blue tick mix. She is spayed (done by PAL) and is up to date on shots. She is also taking a monthly heartworm preventative (I have receipts for medical records). Daisy is very friendly, she tries to play with any person or animal she sees. However she is high energy, so she can be a bit much when she's excited. She does not potty in the house, but she also does not have free roam of the house because she is still a puppy and can get into things. She loves long walks and lots of play time. She is a very tall dog, her back stands at 23" tall. She is at an age where she needs time to be taught and we just had a baby and cannot give her that time. Please contact via email to vogel.katie@gmail.com for information. The dog is located in Henrico, near RIC airport.

Mommu
My kitty adopted me two years ago as a stray and at the time, she was wary of people. The Catch ‘n Release program had caught her to spay, de-worm and give her shots and then released her back to my yard. Overtime she has become an affectionate, warm and loving. She likes to spend part of her day sitting on my back deck watching the birds and squirrels. She comes inside around dusk and sits with me on the couch or curls up with my other cat, Cosby. I am moving soon and need someone to take over her care since I already have two cats myself. My new place only allows me to have two and feel bad having to give her up but know she will enjoy a new warm, loving home just as much as she does mine. I believe she is probably about 3-4 years old and is a very pretty tabby that has much love to give. I am including all her things to give her new parent/family. Please call or email me for more information or to arrange a time to meet her. I live in Henrico. My number is 804-385-6296 and my email is jmontg06@hotmail.com.

Meet Theodora! She is 8 months old, spayed, up to date on all vaccinations and is very healthy. She is extremely vocal, has a bit of cattitude and loves to be loved. She was adopted from the Richmond SPCA SPCA. She is also very high anxiety, so she needs to have a lot of attention and patience - if she is trying to talk to you she needs your full attention! It would be best if she had an owner with a lot of spare time and energy as she does not do well with long hours of separation. Otherwise, she is very affectionate and loves to purr and rub her face on you. Unfortunately I am unable to provide her with the attention she needs I will include all of her beds and toys so she feels more at ease in her new home. My email is rebeccavoss3@gmail.com. Ruby

Ruby
Hi! My name is Ruby! I am a sweet lovey-dovey dog. I enjoy cuddling, any treat at all, and am just as cute as a button. My current owner got me and my sister Zelda from a lady friend whose property we wandered up on. We had no tags, no owners, and we’re not sure how long we’d been on our own. We were mangy and skinny and had obviously been abused. The first lady couldn’t keep us and was about to have to send us to the local pound which was not a no kill shelter. Unfortunately, Zelda and I came to rely on each other so much when we were out on our own that we had already hyper-bonded to each other and now that we’re older, we are arguing a lot. My owner is trying to find me a new home with people who have a lot of time to teach me how to be my own individual best and really want a constant loving companion. If I stay here with my sis, I will never blossom into the best I can be. I am good with my current family’s cat (although I lick her a whole lot more than she likes) and I enjoy the boys. I just can’t seem to get along with my sis, or more accurately, my sis can’t get along with me. I haven’t had any exposure to other dogs, so I’m not sure I’d like that, and given the bullying I’m getting from my sister, I don’t think that’s a good idea. I also have no exposure to small children, but love the two boys I have now, they are 10 and 13. I’d probably get along with kids a little younger, but not too awful young. I am just a little over a year old, spayed and have all my shots. The vet says I am a beagle/dachshund mix. I come with my crate, bed, dog dish and toys. If you think you could be my new loving owner, please call us at 804-516-7903 so my owner can arrange a meet and greet.

LittleOneKitty

Little One and Kitty
I am looking to re-home two adult white male Persian cats. Kitty, the older and bigger cat, is 10 years old and is a Persian mix (a rescue). He has gold eyes. Little One is the younger and smaller cat. He is 6-year-old pure bred Persian with blue eyes. They have both been neutered and are up to date with their vaccinations. They are indoor only cats. I would like to keep them together as they have been living together for the last 6 years. Kitty is extremely cuddly and loves your attention and affection. He is calm and loves to sit in your lap/tummy/anywhere near you. Little One is much more independent yet playful and very curious. He will investigate everything (if there’s a box lying around, you'll most likely find him sleeping in it!). They have lived in a house with a dog before, so they are fine with dogs. They have not lived with children but they do well with them. For additional information, please email Christine at abcdefghijklmn5060@hotmail.com.

SweetieSweetie

Sweetie
This is Sweetie - and she was named for being so sweet! She's a foxhound/greyhound mix, adopted about a year ago (she was originally found in Powhatan County), at around 3 or 4 years of age. She weighs 45 pounds. Sweetie is mild mannered, rarely barks (only if she really has to go to the bathroom at night) and never jumps up on people. She is great with all people, especially kids – she’s very gentle. She loves sunbathing and can sit outside in the sun for hours. Sweetie is house trained. She is really good with walks, never pulls when she sees other dogs. She knows some basic commands. I love her very much but my new job doesn't allow me to be home as much and I don't have enough time for her. She would be happier with a family as she loves kids! Or with someone that can dedicate more time to her. She would come with crate, dog bowls, a month's supply of food flea & tick medicine for 6 months, etc. Please email Kylie to learn more: kylie.kutney@gmail.com.

Mitch and Apollo
3. These two wonderful cats have to leave our home due to our daughter's allergies. We have had them since birth and they are litter mates, birth date 10/13/06, so they just turned 8 years old this fall. They are indoor only, have no front claws, and are litter trained with the Breeze system. They used to use normal litter before we switched to Breeze, so they'll be fine with either. They have been cared for like members of the family and it is breaking our hearts to have to re-home them. Here's a little about each one:

Mitch – He’s the striped tabby. He's the most social and cuddliest of the bunch. He does not bite and has done well with an active toddler chasing him around. He's the kind of cat that you can lay your head on like he's a pillow.

Apollo – He’s the dove gray big boy. This picture doesn't show his full girth. He's a classic big fat cat. Soft, cuddly, and protective. He needs brushing because he's super sized.

We want to keep them together and would love for them to be with a family who will love on them as much as we have. We understand that adopting two cats together can be a challenge for families, so we are willing to send them to loving homes alone as well. Please also feel free to message me if there are other options that we might not know about for a new home for our sweet lovies. I am willing to drive within an hour of Richmond for a good new home for the sweet kitties. Please share with anyone you think might like to love them. Please email me (Elise) to learn more: elise.marie.boyd@gmail.com.

BowzerBowzer

Bowzer
This is Bowzer! He's a 3-year-old orange tabby who loves to cuddle. He's a very relaxed, easy going cat who adores all people and animals! He used to live with two big dogs and over time loved them just fine. Currently he lives with another cat and they're buds. Bowzer would do best as an outdoor cat – he likes to roam around and explore. He loves strings and climbing high on top of anything he can find. People are his absolute favorite. He instantly loves anyone and craves a lot of attention. In the mornings, he's been spoiled and loves his wet food even before you have your coffee! He’s neutered and has no known health issues. I can be reached at 703-635-9110 or emailed at angelicalee.rva@gmail.com.

Molly
This beautiful, loving girl is named Molly and she is need of a new home. She is a 2 year old hound mix that was originally rescued from an animal shelter in Chesterfield. She is a wonderful, loving dog who will cuddle up next to you anytime, anywhere. She is a ball of energy and she handles children and other dogs wonderfully. I am unable to continue to keep her as living situation has become too small for her and she deserves better. She is up to date on all vaccines – I have all of her paperwork and can provide any time. I can be contacted at 804-205-4715 or scott.royer@gmail.com.

Harry

Harry Van Winkle
This is Harry (Van Winkle). When he was rescued from a warehouse dumpster in hot desert heat of Dubai, he slept and slept for days without fear of feral dogs in his foster home with large rooms, spiral staircase and cold marble floors. Harry is about 8 years old, part Turkish Van with medium long fur, neutered, microchipped and weighs about 14 lbs., has been indoors only and has international vet passport with vaccinations up to date. He had 4 molars extracted because of foraging through tin cans in dumpster so he prefers soft canned food in pate form or small dry kibbles. When the shelter ended the foster program, I adopted him so here we are in Virginia. Harry is semi-feral, apparently abused as a kitten .He's afraid of loud voices, feet or two hands descending upon him. However, Harry loves every animal. He will emit his soft, unique "mwaaah" when you brush him. He is not mean or vicious, just a fearful but sweet boy. He loves to bat the wooden balls inside a cat toy box covered in cord. However, we're no longer in that spacious furnished housing overseas. Harry is not happy in this small, confining studio where his fur affects my allergies and he has little room to frolic. He would be happier in a rural environment such as a farm or a fenced in home where he could roam with other critters. Please feel free to email me at judimoy@gmail.com. Litter box, toys, scratching posts, airline-approved crate food, dishes, favorite blankie, passport and tags all will accompany Harry boy. References required.

Hairy

Hairy
Hairy is a 4 year old Main Coon mix with a lot of fluff and a lot of love. He has lived with two big dogs and happily runs the house. Hairy also has some special needs as he is missing a paw and gets around a little slower than other cats. But besides speed he gets around just fine. He has been moved around a lot and sometime has a hard time finding the litter box, so it has to be in a really accessible spot. Otherwise he loves to be in the middle of the activity and loves being brushed! No restrictions except he has not lived with other cats before, but I imagine he could adjust as he is very mellow. Hairy is neutered and up to date on vaccinations. Please contact Laura at 812-746-0927 or ktward@mit.edu to learn more.

Sammy

Sammy
Hi! My name is Sammy, but my family calls me Sam (or Monkey, Biscuit, or Sam Sam). I am a big, fluffy, declawed, neutered boy who has lived with my family for eleven years. I love to be rubbed and scratched by my ears. Don't let my age or size fool you, I am an energetic, spunky guy! I love to play with strings, balls and my fuzzy mice. Although I like to investigate new friends, it can take me a little while to warm up to them. I do like other animals and might really enjoy having another kitty or gentle dog to hang out with. Unfortunately, two of my family members are having allergy issues, so I'm just not getting the amount of attention that I deserve. With a bit of patience and love, I could become your new favorite snuggle buddy! Please contact Kendra at theurekm@yahoo.com if you have any questions or might be interested in meeting me!

Po
I have a black and white cat in need of rehoming. He is 3 years old, is neutered and declawed in his front paws. He is also up to date on vaccinations. I recently had a child and between that and my job I really don't have time for my cat. He deserves more attention than I can give him. Po is very loving and good with all people. He is very quiet and does not jump on furniture or tables or counters. I have trained him - he is very smart. I just want a good home. If you think that could be with you please give me a call at 804-617-2758.

TuviaTuvia

Tuvia
Tuvia is a pale orange American short hair. He is about five and a half years old and I've had him since he was a tiny kitten. At 14 pounds he is a big boy and he loves to lounge around the house, sleep in high places, look out the window and bask in the sun. He grew up with two dogs so he doesn't mind households with dogs, and while he needs some playtime like any cat, he prefers to cuddle and sleep, often sprawled on the floor in plain sight. He likes to be around people and he doesn't mind being held any which way. He seldom meows and usually only does so when he needs food, water, a clean litter box or attention. The only thing that he really hates is riding in the car, and I don't know how he interacts with other cats. Several years ago he had a urinary tract problem so now he eats special food, and that is his only special need. I love Tuvia so much but my fiancé is terribly allergic to cats and he cannot live in her house. It hurts me to part with him but I want him to find a good, loving home. Tuvia is neutered and up to date on all vaccinations. Please contact Matt at mattbuchh@gmail.com to discuss adopting this wonderful cat.

Trenton

Trenton
Trenton is a very active dog and we love him dearly! We adopted him September 2014 from the Richmond SPCA. He is spoiled rotten, by the love we give him (doggy day care, dog parks and grooming). We have tried crate training and other training methods, but his separation anxiety has become something too much for us to handle. We think Trenton would do best in a home with a large, open yard (fenced in) that he can run around in. He would also do best with a family that is home more often than we are. Trenton is 2-3 years old, weighs 35 pounds and is a beagle/pointer mix. He is neutered and up to date on all shots. Please call Shavone to learn more: 646-420-1088 or 804-326-9442.

Dinah
Dinah has a sparkling personality. She is full of love and snuggles. She resides directly beside her foster moms side most of her day. She is a constant companion. She also loves to play with toys and other animals. She is roughly a year old based on her assessment at the Richmond SPCA SPCA. She is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed. Dinah was found living under a shed with three kittens the summer of 2014. She is currently residing with 4 other cats and a small dog and she has a blast playing with them. She would do well in a home with other small animals. Sadly, her foster mom has decided she has too many pets already. Please consider giving Dinah her forever home! For more information, contact Barbara at 804-625-1402.

Hannah and Cassie
Hannah is a Staffordshire terrier mix (white and brindle) and will be 3 years old in March. She is a lover and a snuggle but still needs some exercise (a 5 minute walk or yard play is sufficient for her!). She was recently diagnosed with heartworms but is receiving treatment for them. Hannah knows basic commands, is house and crate trained and walks well on a leash. She does great at dog parks! She is spayed and up to date on vaccinations. Cassie turned 2 years old earlier this month. She is a black lab. Cassie is a big ball of energy and will play fetch for hours. She would do best with a fenced in backyard to enjoy. She had surgery on her rear legs to prevent her kneecaps from slipping out of place, as a result she is not a huge fan of cold weather and the vet said since the surgery was while she was young her knee and hip arthritis will be lessened as she ages. Like Hannah, Cassie is house and crate trained and knows basic commands. She also walks well on a leash. If possible, I would like to keep this bonded pair together. For more information, please email: bk.cturtle@gmail.com.

NeonNeonNeon

Neon
Neon is a 6-year-old spayed female and is up to date on her vacations. Her coat is all black. She is an indoor only cat. She has ventured outside on two occasions with supervision but she quickly returned to the safety of the house. She is affectionate, chatty and prefers dry food (I was able to find her some wet food she will eat). She will greet you at the door when you come home and she will do 'forward rolls' at your feet hoping you will rub her chest and neck. She enjoys chasing the laser pointer and watching the birds from inside the house. I adopted Neon from a friend who had a dog added to her living situation. Neon and I were fine for 5 months until my work schedule changed and I am now away from home for 24+ hours at a time. Neon protested by not using her litter box. She was medically cleared and we made some household changes. She is normal except she will still "do #2" outside the litter box when I am away for an extended time (24+ hrs). Neon needs more attention and interaction than I am able to provide at this time. Included with Neon in the adoption will be two litter boxes with scoop, any remaining litter and food, her collar with bell, a cat Furminator, a soft shell carry case, a small kitty condo, a cardboard scratching pad (if intact) and all the vet records I have for her. If interested, please contact Jeff at ja2265@hotmail.com.

Scout is a 5-year-old mix in need of a good home. She loves attention and being outside, and would probably prefer to be the only pet in the house. She takes a little while to warm up to new people, but one she does she’ll be your best companion. I would love to keep her, but my roommate has allergies and I am not able to give her the attention that she deserves. Scout is spayed and is up to date on her shots. Please email Wiley at rowe.wiley@gmail.com if interested or for additional information.

Meet Cookie! She is an 11 month old, 55 pound pit bull/lab mix. She is spayed, up to date on all her shots and healthy. She takes her monthly heartworm, flea and tick medication. Cookie is house trained and well mannered in the house. She is energetic, loves playing ball, going for walks and chewing on her favorite toy. She knows basic commands (“sit,” “stay,” “up,” “lay,” “roll over,” “go to sleep,” and “give me five”). She is a very loyal and playful pup. So why do I want to find a new home for Cookie when she is healthy and playful? Well, she is a resource guarder and is not getting along with my child. Unfortunately we cannot keep her. Cookie would make a great companion, in a home with no children or other animals. Please contact me by email at kucuk_me@yahoo.com for more information.

Mayday is a 2-year-old boxer mix. She is a shy but very sweet girl. She loves to nap, cuddle and really wants to be your best friend. We just got her a few weeks ago and we hate to give her up, but unfortunately she is just too big for a tiny apartment. She is a little shy of strangers and other dogs, but is getting much better by the day. She has some separation anxiety, so crate training isn't the best option for her. She is looking for a high energy home or a fenced in yard where she can play. She does not get along well with cats. Mayday is spayed and up to date on all vaccinations and comes with a copy of her medical records. Feel free to email me anytime at awilson09@su.edu with questions!

Rue
We are looking for a loving person or family to adopt our sweet kitty. Rue has the gentlest soul and is so loving. She is so, so special. We call her the "cat who thinks she is a dog." She will curl up with you on the sofa and bring you toys to play with her. Rue needs to be in a home without other animals (she wants to be your one and only). She also needs to remain indoors at all times. She is litter box trained. Rue is tolerant of children and lets our children pet her and love on her (and just walks away when they grab her tail!). She has her claws, but doesn't scratch people and rarely scratches anything but her scratching pad. Rue is a wonderful companion and has been our best friend for 8 years. She would show you such immense love. Please contact Kelly at 804-814-9485 or kelly.markey@gmail.com if you might be interested in adopting her. She is spayed and up to date on vaccinations. We're praying to find her a new, loving home.

He doesn't like younger kids, but would be fine with older ones. He is up to date on all vaccinations. He is a bit particular about what he eats so none of that healthy stuff, he is strictly a Meow Mix/Friskies/Fancy Feast kind of guy. He needs a good home, one worthy of his sweetness. Molly

Molly
Molly is almost 5 years old, and she is a spayed female who is up to date on all her shots. We adopted her from the Richmond SPCA in October of 2010. Molly is mostly blind, so she is startled easily. Because of this she is not a fan of young children. She is a pretty independent cat who loves to be near to but not on top of people. She has lived with our dog for the last two years and doesn't mind a dog as long as the dog leaves her alone. Because of her vision, she is a mostly two-dimensional cat and cannot get on top of counters or other high surfaces. Molly is also a very petite kitty, but she's quite soft and fluffy. My wife and I have loved having molly for the last 4 years, but we recently had a baby. Molly has been inappropriately eliminating (despite daily cleaning and weekly changes) since the birth of our son 7 months ago, and we cannot keep her in our rental townhouse because of this. She needs a good home who will love and protect her. For more information, please call Jordan at 804-302-1505

Chance
Chance is a 1-year-old hound mix. He has been living in my home since May and is having a pretty big issue with separation anxiety. He currently takes medication to ease his anxiety, but it is still not enough to take the edge off while I am away at work for an entire day. He really needs a home where someone will be able to be with him for the majority of the day. He can be left for short periods of a time, for a few hours max. He also is a fence jumper, so he will either need lots of land or a very high fence with supervision. He can not be crated or in runs, this only intensifies his anxiety and he finds a way to get out. He is current on all vaccines and vet care. He gets along with cats, dogs, and has been around many small children toddler age. He has completed basic obedience classes and knows basic commands. I am looking for a good home who can give him more attention than I currently can. I am also willing to sign a contract so if he does not work out in his new environment I will take him back. If you need any additional information or would like to contact me please reach me by email at rhawthorne42@gmail.com or by phone at 804-822-1254.

We must find a new home for Carly. She is the 1.5 year old shepherd/hound mix and weighs 40 pounds. She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on her shots. We have been fostering her for the past couple of months. She is not getting along with our two other dogs, both rescues - we knew that might be an issue. She would do best in a home without other animals but with an active family – she loves her walks, tennis balls and playing with toys. She would not be good for a family with small kids - she gets excited and jumps on you. She's working on the jumping and basic commands (“sit,” “stay,” “down” at the Richmond SPCA School for Dogs). She loves belly rubs and walks well with her Easy Walk halter and a non-retracting leash. She is house trained and crate trained. Please let me know if you or someone you know might be interested. Please contact Deanna at deannadeemo@hotmail.com or by calling 804-307-4592. Carly comes with her crate, collar and halter, leash, food, toys, tie out lead and ground stake.

If you are interested in opening your heart and home to this wonderful girl, please contact Evangeline at 804-247-2336.

  JJJJJJ

Jinx and Juliet
Two tabby cats, Jinx and Juliet, are in need to go to a good home together. These sisters are 2 years old. I just found out from my doctor that I am very allergic to the cats and, additionally, we are just not in a position to keep them right now. Both cats are affectionate, playful, and cuddle buddies! Both are spayed, (front) de-clawed, micro-chipped and up to date on all shots. They would do best in a home with no dogs, and no house plants (Jinx does eat house plants and small cords - use Critter Cord!). Julie is more shy and independent, and she may hide from or hiss at strangers first, but she will eventually warm up to you and others. She loves to have attention, but only when she wants it and doesn't like to be held. Jinx is much more approachable and is very interested in new things. Jinx loves to cuddle with you and wants to sleep on your lap. The two do very well together and will typically sleep together in their cat tower all day. Jinx and Juliet come with two litter boxes, a bed, toys and 4 cat towers (if you would like them). If interested, please contact Brianna at 804-943-6154. I am in Colonial Heights, VA.

  LexiLexiLexi

Lexi
This is Lexi (also known as Lexi Lou)! I met Lexi at the Charlottesville SPCA a year ago. I knew I had to take her home as soon as I saw her. She is a Mountain Cur, about 2 years old and weighs 45 pounds. Lexi has been spayed and is up to date on vaccinations. She plays very well with kids - she is around my nephews and niece that are all under the age of 4 and we’ve never had a problem. She can definitely be excitable (not jumping up is hard when you're so happy!), but the high energy is all puppy-bursts and she spends more time lounging than roughhousing. She's incredibly sweet and definitely a people dog. She will cuddle with you and try to lay in your lap. Lexi is eager to please - when she isn't distracted by that pesky squirrel! She is housetrained with no destructive tendencies and walks relatively well on a leash (still pulls a little, but is getting better). It takes her a few interactions to get used to a dog - we’ve been working on that with training. Unexpectedly, I ended up traveling the past few months and my parents have been taking care of her. I just recently found out I will start night school in January and that will leave Lexi in the house for far too long. I would love to find a great new home for her! If you would like to learn more about Lexi, or to come over for a visit, please email vicmorales30@gmail.com. Thanks you!

Rose and Sophia
Meet Rose and Sophia! These two beautiful girls have unique, loving personalities and are in search of a new home! Sophia loves to be rocked every morning while I drink my coffee. She is very affectionate and loves Rose. At times she will groom her, wrestle with her and let her know she is first when it comes time to sharing treats. Rose and Sophia eat at the same time out of the same dish, except when they have a spoonful of cat fish food in the evening while I eat my dinner. They both like to sleep in the bed with me and have little mats to lay on at the bottom of my bed. They don't go outside but enjoy watching out French door windows, at the stray cats and squirrels that visit them. Rose loves to jump in the tub after I finish my shower but does not like to be brushed. Sophia loves to be brushed. They have been with me for five years and would love to stay together. Rose is four years younger than Sophia, they play well and are good company for each other. For more information, contact Janet at 804-744-0786. Thank you!

Ginger
Meet Ginger! Ginger is an 8 month old beagle mix and she is one of the most playful puppies you ever get to meet! She is on the smaller side (weighs in 30’s). She is spayed, microchipped and is up to date on her shots. She will be rehomed with all of her comforts (leash, collar, crate, bowls, etc.). As much as it kills me I have to give her away because of my new job (my new job involves a lot of traveling). She gets along great with people really well. She does, however need to be supervised when playing or socializing with other dogs. We are hoping to find her a good home as she would make somebody a great companion and deserves the chance to be someone's pet in a loving home where she can be given the love and attention she wants. Please contact Daniel at 703-300-6486 or amiraligh89@gmail.com to learn more about this playful little girl.

Duke and Dutchess
These 2 pups are Maltese and need to be adopted together. They are siblings from different litters, and both are spayed/neutered. Duke (laying on carpet in his picture) and Dutchess (sitting pretty in her picture) are up to date on their immunizations and will be re-homed with all of their comforts (leashes, beds, bowls, etc.) Their owner has recently passed away, and my husband and I have taken them in until they can find their new forever home. They both have done well with children that have come into our home of different ages, and they have both adjusted to living with our large cat and now play with him. We have not introduced them to other pups during their stay here, but they have socialized with other dogs in the past and may reside with other dogs well. Duke is 9 years old and Dutchess is 7 years old. Both are spunky and very sweet. They like to be with you wherever you are when you are at home and will entertain each other. Please contact Crystal at 804-402- 8408 or Chris at 804-467-0467, to meet these little guys and find out if they could be a good fit for you.

Maggie
Maggie is a 5-year-old tabby. She is a perfect lap cat! She answers when you call her, purrs when you scratch her, and fetches small balls and brings them back when you throw them for her. She loves to chase laser lights, but she also likes to stretch out on her back with her legs straight out. She is my daughter's cat. She went off to school and I am highly allergic to Maggie and can't give her all the attention she deserves. Please help me find her a good and loving home. She is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed. She still has claws but does not tear up the furniture. Please contact Donna to learn more: dholley86@gmail.com.

Tito

Tito
Tito is a male Chihuahua mix. He is about 2 years old and has been with our family since he was 4 months old. Our children love him very much and he is a very spoiled little guy. Unfortunately, he is not as good with our children’s friends as he is with our own kids. He has a fear of strangers as well as an extreme fear of the vet, and some issues with feeling closed in. When adults visit, he needs some quiet time, then time to cautiously get to know them before becoming comfortable. It can take a couple of minutes to a couple of hours. With kids, he gets more nervous and needs quiet time overnight. Usually by the next day he is okay being around them, but with our large family, it’s not always possible to give him that supervised or quiet time with every child that comes through the door. At home with just the family he is a loving dog, who likes to chase toys, play with the kids, chew his rawhide and snuggle on the couch. He is house-trained and communicates very well if he needs to go out or if he needs food or water. He fancies himself a great hunter, standing guard at the window for pesky squirrels and running after deer if given the chance. Because of his issues with strangers, it would be best for him to be in a home without children, and with an adult who is very patient and can spend more time working on his fears. Although he came from a house with another dog, we do not have other pets and do not know how he would handle being around them. He is neutered and microchipped and up to date on all his vaccines. If you would like to find out more about Tito, please email kelley.marlin@gmail.com or call 727-644-5401.

Plato's Cousin

Plato's Cousin
My name is Plato's Cousin. I was found at a feral cat colony, where I came to eat for a couple of months. I was always very hungry and I ran from people. The Crazy Cat Ladies trapped, neutered and vaccinated me and discovered that I am a giant, affectionate love bug of a cat. Just look at my pictures and you can see how nice I am. If you like big, sweet medium-haired kitties, then I am the cat for you. I'm a calm cat who likes people and does okay with other cats. I also use the litter box like a champ. I am FIV+ so I would need to be in a home where that is not an issue. My estimated age is 3-4 and in addition to my neuter and shots, I had a thorough vet exam where I was declared to be robust and healthy. The Crazy Cat Ladies would love to keep me, but they are all "full" at their houses so they are fostering me until I can find that special, loving home for my loving self. Call or text 804-389-9626 if you are interested.

RubyTitanRubyTitanRubyTitanRubyTitan

Ruby and Titan
Meet Ruby and Titan! They are golden retriever/Rottweiler mixes and are just over a year old. As much as it kills me to give them up, I need to because of upcoming changes in our household (our family is about to expand and I currently work 14 hours a day). Ruby and Titan are very smart (Titan has figured out how to get out of his crate!), affectionate, gentle and playful. They like to play fetch (Ruby is much better at it!), but can entertain themselves outside. While inside they love to follow you around and are great at vacuuming up any scraps that happen to fall. They love to play in the water, don't mind getting baths, and (for some odd reason) I always find Ruby in the shower. I have been working to get them socialized a bit more by bringing them around new people and to the dog park (they are nervous on initial greets). Ruby and Titan know some basic commands, but could use some extra work. The good news is they are fast learners! They have wonderful personalities. Ruby and Titan do not need to be rehomed together but would do well in a home with other dogs. They pick on my cat a little, but have never hurt her. A home without cats would likely be best. They get along well with children. Both dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, have received heart worm and flea/tick preventative regularly and are up to date on vaccinations. Please contact Patricia at 908-403-9114 to learn more.

LesterLester

Lester
Lester was adopted from the Richmond SPCA in February of 2013. He is a 4-year-old beagle/Labrador retriever mix. He loves to give kisses, play with stuffed animals and play tug-a-war. He likes to help me with my garden (or simply sit while watching me do my work!), would rather be with people than be alone and his favorite food is peanut butter. All in all, Lester is very mellow and enjoys long walks with his human – he is house trained and is well behaved in a home. While walking he loves to take time to sniff everything he finds! He also stops to greet other dogs walking around. If it's a dog he is not sure about, he will keep walking without saying "hello." He can be stubborn - just help him change his mind of the thing he does not want to do. (For example, he will decide he is not going back home and lay flat on the grass, so I play the game with him of "let's race - 'run, Lester, run'" and goes straight home without a problem.) He needs someone that can understand his personality. Lester would do best in a home as an only dog (if you have one, they would need to meet first). He cannot be disturbed once he is in a deep sleep and while eating, so a home without young children may also be best. Please contact Gladys at 703-798-7562 or gladys.bush09@hotmail.com to learn more about this handsome man!

Abby  Abby Abby

Abby
This is Abby. She is approximately 8 years old, spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative and on preventative. Abby is 40 pounds, a thin and somewhat tall body shape (think greyhound-ish or whippet-ish build). She is being rehomed because of financial and emotional difficulty after the husband died. Abby is an affectionate girl, who wants to be close to humans. She is house trained and even signals to go out with excited behavior or going to the door. Abby enjoys lounging in her crate or cuddling her people on the couch while watching TV. Abby has not shown any interest in toys, and is not a “chewer”. She is respectful of things left out, does not eat human food, does not steal shoes or other items. Overall, Abby is a VERY loving, happy girl. Abby is a little unsure and timid around smaller children, so ages 8 and up would be best if there are children at a potential new home. If you are interested in giving Abby a forever home with your family, please contact Stephanie Turnbull at 804-317-1366 or stephrturnbull@gmail.com.

Cooper Cooper

Cooper
Looking for a great new home for my 10 month old beagle/shepherd mix, Cooper. He is neutered and up-to-date with all his vaccines including Kennel Cough. He is energetic and cuddly and loves attention! Due to my new job, I can no longer afford nor commit the time to keeping him. He is completely house trained. He's currently going through extra puppy training now so he will be more than great when he's off to his new home! Although he's an older pup, he still has a lot of energy, so he needs a family that can devote that time to playing with him or simply take him to a dog park! Cooper gets along well with other dogs (loves little dogs!) and other people. I'm very sad to leave him, so I want to make sure he'll be in the best hands. Please contact me at (202)316-1872 or cristina.ellism@gmail.com if you want to meet and possibly adopt Cooper.

Tiddly
Meet Tiddly! She's a calico with a big white belly, around 2 years old. She's the cuddliest little thing and will always have something to say to you. My new lease dictates I can only have 2 pets, which very sadly means I have to downgrade my family of four. Of those four babes, two will rehome easier than the other. One is my sweet baby girl, Tiddly. The last thing I want to do is part with this sweet baby, but as I said above, she has the best personality for rehoming. She's great with kids and even friendly to other dogs- she currently lives with a pup herself. For more information about Tiddly, email asthc.home@gmail.com.

BodieBodieBodie

Bodie
Bodie is a five year old pit bull who loves to run and swim; especially swim. He has a lot of energy, but he also makes a great big (he’s 72 pounds) cuddle buddy on the couch after a long day of exercise. He loves all people, and quickly warms up to everyone he meets. He is up to date on his rabies vaccine. He has also been neutered. Bodie’s ideal owner would be someone with no other pets, enjoys an active lifestyle, and can tire him out every day (either through a long run or two, or a swim in the river/lake). He is completely house trained, does not eat people food or beg (i.e. you can leave an entire pizza/plate on the coffee table and he won’t touch it.), knows all the basic commands (“sit,” “stay,” “rollover,” “shake” (both paws) and “army crawl”). He is the best dog, he is my best bud, and I’m only finding him a new home because I can’t get him out enough with my work schedule – he deserves the best. If you think you might be a good fit for Bodie, please reach out! joel.torres@me.com.

Roxy

Roxy
Roxy is a wonderful 6-year-old girl (hound/retriever mix) who has the energy and heart of a 2-year-old! She enjoys the dog park (she can be cautious with the new dogs there but warms up quickly). She is a pooch that wants to understand her surroundings first, but then she’ll offer kisses not want to leave your side. Roxy is truly a snuggle bug! She would do best in a home that has another dog that likes to play or in a single dog home with an active lifestyle. She is an excellent runner both on and off the leash (but no cats for this playful girl!). Roxy loves walks, runs and trips to the park. She's eager to please and eager to be loved! She has done well with the kids she has met. Roxy is up to date on all shots and is ready for her new forever home. She rides great in a car, is respectful of furniture, crate trained and is house trained. Won't you open your heart and your home to a girl who is wonderful beyond belief ? Please contact Ryan at 804-239-5843 or Denan at 703-585-4756 if you would like to meet and learn more about Roxy.

CharleyCharleyCharley

Charley
We are looking for a new home for our 10-year-old cat, Charley. We are moving to Germany with the Army in November, and cannot take him with us. Charley is a sweet cat that likes to cuddle. He is very affectionate, and needs a home with “cat people” who will give him the love attention he deserves. He is good around children and dogs. He has been neutered and is completely litter box trained. He has strictly been an indoor cat, though he has escaped before and found his way home. He is very self-sufficient, but loves attention when he wants it. He is obsessed with plastic bags, boxes he can lay in, and loves treats. He likes to sit by the window and look outside on sunny days or just lay around on his back and lounge in the sunshine. We would like him to go to a loving home with people who understand and adore cats. My wife is crushed, but we both know he will be happier with “cat people” who won’t be travelling as much as we will. Please email mustang9574@yahoo.com to learn more.

Pippa Pippa

Pippa
Pippa is a 5-year-old, petite girl who is very eager to please her people. We believe she is a Sheltie/Shephard mix and weighs almost 30 pounds. She is crate trained, potty trained and can sit (her default, which I love), lay down and stay. She's not very interested in food, so no counter-surfing for her! She loves to wrestle with her older dog brother and has no issue with cats. She likes riding in cars and has spent tons of time at doggy daycare making friends. She loves playing fetch and is very good about bringing the ball back and waiting patiently for you to throw it again. As very sweet as she is, Pippa can be fearful of new things and people. She tolerates kids, but would be happier in a kid-free home so she can be more comfortable. Ideally someone with a quiet lifestyle will give Pippa the home she needs to be happy and comfortable. We've had her for 4 years and have realized that our home is not a good fit for her. She would do best with a family with experience with dogs to help her with her fear. She wants so badly to do the right thing and our home doesn't give her that option with the constant activity of a young busy family. Pippa is up to date on all vaccinations and shots. If you are interested in Pippa, please call 612-229-4219.

Connor
Meet Mr. Connor! He is a 5-year-old beagle mix. He is neutered, up to date on all his vaccinations, heart worm negative, and parvo negative. Connor is easy going and has a laid back temperament. He is extremely loving and has a typical sweet beagle disposition. He loves to cuddle and enjoys having conversations with you on a variety of subjects. He is not food aggressive and plays well with both young and older dogs. One of his favorite things to do is to go for car rides. He has shown some signs of separation anxiety, so a patient household will to help him adjust would be ideal. Mehlia

Mehlia
Mehlia is a 5-year-old Cocker Spaniel, who loves playing with toys and being rubbed behind her ears. She is completely house and crate trained. She is a loving dog who loves lots of attention and treats. Mehlia will do great with a family with older children and no other pets. She has never been introduced to other dogs or cats thus a home without other pets will be more suitable. Mehlia is spayed, up to date on her rabies vaccinations and only requires her Bordatella vaccination. As our family has grown and work has required more of our time, we are not able to devote much time to Mehlia, leaving her alone in her crate most of the day. So if you can give her the love and attention, she would be a great addition to your family. If interested please email me at mljones109@msn.com.

Cooper
Meet Cooper! Cooper is a 7-month-old who we believe is a Beagle, German Shepard, Hound mix. He is a great dog, but we live in an apartment and Cooper needs more space for running and playing. My roommate has a Husky and they play well together, but he would probably do best in a home without children or cats. Cooper is looking for a home with a big, fenced in yard where he will have lots of room to play. He is looking for a family that has the time to work with him and give him lots of exercise. He is neutered, micro-chipped and up to date with his vaccines. We love Cooper and just want him to go to a good home. For more information, email Matt at dmf28095@email.vccs.edu.

She will do best in an environment where she has plenty of attention and room to run around and play. MosbyMosby

Mosby
Mosby is the sweetest, most handsome and intelligent chocolate lab/pitbull mix you will find! He was rescued 4 years ago – he was very skinny and completely hairless after being neglected. He immediately made the most loving, caring and devoted companion. A new baby in his home has made him nervous and anxious; he will thrive in a home without cats and small children. Mosby loves other mid-sized and large dogs, playing soccer outside and snoozing in the sunshine. He is eager to show off his many skills for treats which, aside from the basic “sit,” “down,” “stay,” “drop it” commands include “sit up” (where he crosses his arms and sits up like a person!), “climb,” “relax,” and “high five,” to name a few. He adores his puzzle toys (with hidden treats) and bones (he does not guard his food or his toys, in fact, he tosses his toys to his doggy friends to engage them to play) and he especially loves snuggling with you and going for long walks. Mosby is approximately 5 years old and about 80 pounds. If you are looking for a true best friend, Mosby will be 100 percent devoted to you. Mosby is very excited, willing and eager to find his new forever family. Please contact Dustin to learn more: DZedaker@oneenv.com.

MarvinMarvin

Marvin
Marvin is a 3-year-old male chihuahua. He is neutered and up to date on vaccinations. His original owner is no longer able to care for him so I am fostering him until he can find a new, permanent home. Marvin is very cuddly and becomes easily attached to his caregiver. He can be a bit nervous at first (with both people and dogs) but is quite affectionate ones he gets over his nervous phase. He would do best in a home without small children. He is house trained, walks well on a leash and has no known health issues. Marvin has separation anxiety and would do best on medication. He needs additional work to become crate trained. Please contact Amanda to learn more: amandacrelia@gmail.com or 540-842-0089.

Chester
Chester is a 7-year-old neutered, declawed orange tabby. He is up to date on all vaccinations. I need to re-home him because I have to move and cannot take him with me. He is a very devoted feline and should warm up to a new family quickly, however, sudden movements and noises, rough handling, etc. startle me. I would do best in a home without other pets. To learn more about Chester, please contact Judy at 970-948-9654.

Colby

Colby
Colby is an extremely loving Bengal in need of a new home. He has been very close to me but did not adjust well after my daughter was born (18 months ago). I am now expecting again and am afraid I will not be able to give him the attention he needs and deserves. Colby is an indoor only, loving feline with a lot of love to offer. He enjoys drinking out of the facet (and will not hesitate to let you know when he wants you to turn it on – he can be a loud mouth!). He is neutered and in good health. Please contact me to learn more: Nicole: nicole@phoenix-roofing.com.

Hooch

Hooch
Hello, my name is Hooch (my foster mom named me after the move star from “Turner and Hooch”)! I am a neutered male boxer mix, am up to date on all vaccinations and also tested negative for heartworms. I am currently being treated for allergies and ear infections, and my foster mom is trying to put some weight on me! I get along with people of all ages and other dogs, but I’ve yet to be introduced to cats. I have so much love to give – I will stand and let you pet and love on me until your arms fall off. If you would like to learn more about and meet me, please contact my foster mom (Kim 804-778-7887, kim@westhundredtitle.com).

Simerlan
Simerlan is a 10-week-old feline in search of a permanent home (she recently appeared in our backyard). can be a bit shy around excessive noise but once the humans calm down, she will snuggle in your lap for hours while you read a book or play video games. She does well with other cats – our younger cat enjoys playing with her but unfortunately our older cat bullies her. We feel she would be happiest in a home by herself or with another cat who is less dominant. Simerlan is litter box trained and will come with a litterbox, a small amount a food and a few toys. Simerlan is spayed, up to date on vaccinations and tested negative for FIV. Contact Heather at 804-869-0587 to learn more.

Mya

Mya
Mya is a 6-month-old Siberian Husky. She enjoys children but can be a little scared around boys and men. She is sometimes crated and will go into her crate when company is over or if she is scared. She loves to dig holes, run and enjoys playing with her doll and her ball. Mya happily introduces herself to other dogs – she loves them! In addition to being crate trained, Mya is house trained – she will howl when she is ready to go outside or come inside. She would do best in a home with a big backyard and with someone that can play with and run her a lot (she loves to go for long runs!). She knows some basic commands (“sit,” “down,” “up”). Mya is up to date on shots and is in good health. I can be emailed at lhunt83@yahoo.com if anyone is interested.

Jesse
Our dog, Jesse, has been with us for about 16 months. He's a pit bull/lab mix and is approximately 2.5 years old. He super playful, cuddly, energetic and loves a good stick to chew on or a run in the woods. We love him so much. He's awesome and such a love but unfortunately he's not good around small children. We have a 10 month old daughter, and we've worked really hard to train him to become more calm, but it hasn’t been very effective. He's great in most scenarios, and would be really happy with a loving family who has a yard. Jesse is neutered and up to date on his vaccinations. Luda
Luda is an energetic, lovable and selectively cuddly cat. She is spayed and up to date on her shots. She's very nice to strangers, as she meets them all the time outside. She is an indoor/outdoor cat – she seems to truly enjoy it. As far as I can tell, Luda does not mend very well with other animals. She was fine with a pet rat we had in the house, ironically, but whenever a dog or another cat was introduced, she never seemed very happy about it. Ideally, I'd love to find her something not unlike a farm to live on. Please contact me to learn more: reidydanny@gmail.com or 703-489-7767.

Marla
Marla is 16-month-old orange tabby. She is energetic and loves chasing ice cubes and laser beams. She is friendly (yet a bit timid to new visitors) and loves to cuddle in the mornings. She is a ball of joy and likes to show off her spin moves to you when she is feeling playful. She is spayed and is up to date on all of her shots. Marla will do best in a home where she is the only cat. We can no longer care for her because my living situation has brought two more cats into the home and she is a bit jealous when her owners share their attention. We are very hopeful that we will find her a home that will love her as much as we do. I have certificates for all of her necessary shots and being spayed. Petey
Petey is an orange domestic short hair mix. He has a white chest, feet and stomach. He is in good health. He was trapped in July from a feral cat colony in Petersburg (notice the ear-tip) but turned out to be friendly and not feral at all! He loves to be affectionate and is very interested in exploring his surroundings. He has just recently figured out how to play with toys and loves chasing his Da Bird toy the most. He seems to get along with other cats but would need a very slow introduction. He loves to be petted and even started climbing on laps however he would prefer to not be picked up and held. He is vocal at times and loves his cardboard scratching pad infused with fresh catnip. If Petey sounds like the one for you please contact Elke at 804-252-0304.

Mallory
Mallory is a 1-year-old German shorthaired pointer mix. She has an amazing temperament, is very loving and enjoys giving hugs. She goes to doggy daycare and loves playing with other dogs. She is friendly with cats and small children, but can be a little rambunctious with them. She is still very much a puppy and needs plenty of exercise and a place to run. She is crate trained and about 95% house trained. Mallory still needs training and stimulation. She is very smart, but as she is still a puppy she can get bored easily. An active family with a fenced backyard would be a perfect fit for her. She is spayed and up to date on vaccinations. Contact Richie at richie894@hotmail.com or 818-279-4427 to learn more.

Liz
Liz was adopted from the Richmond SPCA last November, and will be 2 years old in October. She is a boxer mix and weighs 40 pounds. Her paperwork says "boxer mix". She is incredibly loving and sweet, very social, loves other dogs and going to the dog park. She has learned how to “sit”, “shake”, “lay down” and “roll over” all in one 15 minute training session. Liz is full of personality! She would make a great family dog, and would love a yard to play in. She's been exposed to many other dogs and small children and just wanted to give everybody kisses. A metal crate will be included with her. Due to changes in my living situation, I will be unable to keep her. Liz is spayed and up to date on vaccinations (I will happily provide all paperwork). Please call 571-278-9942 if interested.

Claire
Claire is a 4-year-old calico. She is spayed and is up to date on her rabies vaccination. She is very affectionate once she gets to know you. When her litter was found and brought to the shelter we adopted her from, Claire was suffering from a severe injury to her back right leg and the doctor had to amputate it. She came through with flying colors and we adopted her at 7 weeks old. Her lack of leg hasn't slowed her down. She plays and climbs like a champ. She can't scratch her neck and ear on the right and appreciates all the help she can get. Claire is one of a kind! She is in need of rehoming due to financial hardship. If you can give Claire a good home that is low key and full of love, please consider adopting her. She will bless you in so many ways! Contact Dennis to learn more: dennis_adkins60@yahoo.com.

Una
My name is Una, because it look like I have only one ear. I still hear everything, including the food when it is poured into my bowl! My foster parents took me in from the cold, last winter. They really love me and I show them love too. I usually hang out with the dog and I like to play chase with their other cats, but they are all old! I am only a little over a year old. I love to play with other pets, toys, laser pointers, hands and feet under blankets, and just about everything. I think the oldsters are tired, so my foster parents need to find me a new home. I am a black kitty with a white splash on my neck and my side (so I am not bad luck or anything). I am healthy, up-to-date on shots and spayed. Contact petfinder6@gmail.com to learn more or to schedule a time to meet.

Oliver

Oliver
Please meet Oliver, the most loyal, faithful, handsome hound dog in the world! He is approximately 6-7 years old and is neutered. We adopted him from the Richmond SPCA in 2009. He is 55 pounds and is a deer hound mix with classic brown, white and black coloring. Oliver's favorite thing is being with us, his owners, whenever possible. He is affectionate and loyal, gets along very well with most other dogs, enjoys meeting new people (after assessing whether they are friend or foe, of course) and tolerates our rambunctious two-year-old son quite admirably. Oliver needs plenty of time outside to play and roam, so someone with a very large yard setting would be best. He likes to take plenty of naps, but when it's time to go outside, he makes it clear. We live in a very small space and are bringing another baby into the world in September. We simply no longer have adequate space for four people and a large dog like Oliver. We would love to keep him, but he needs more monitoring right now than we are able to give. He is up-to-date on his rabies vaccinations and flea/tick treatment, and we are in the process of updating all his other shots. If you interested in meeting Oliver, please call us at 813-679-6975 or email rachellewis11@gmail.com. We want more than anything to find a good home for our doggy!

Cooper is a 6-month-old, neutered beagle mix. The vet says he should grow to be around 40 pounds. He is very energetic and loves to go for walks and play outside. Cooper is your typical puppy he likes to chew but will do well as long as he is given appropriate things to exert his energy. He needs some who can exercise him and give him lots of love and guidance. Cooper has never been around cats but loves to see other dogs. He is up to date on all his vaccines and microchipped. Please email Stephanie at stephanieap82@gmail.com if you are interested.

BuddBudd

Budder Cup
Budder Cup (Budd) is a 2-year-old labrador retriever/pit bull terrier mix is in need of a loving home. He is a large dog that weighs about 50 pounds. He is loyal, playful and loving with adults and children, but he is not certain about others dogs (we have not had him around other dog, but when walking he will sometimes bark at them). However, he likes to play with our cat! Budd is house trained and crate trained. He is an indoor dog, but loves to sun himself in our back yard on warm days. He does not bark when left outside. He loves to go on walks and he will jog. In addition, he has never chewed on our furniture nor has he ever destroyed any household items (we use the crate for training and leave him free to roam in the house, when our family goes out) but he needs ropes (we make homemade ropes from old t-shirts) or hard bones to chew on. Budder Cup has manners and some training. He will sit and lay down. We almost have his greeting manners worked out. He sometimes jumps when you or company first arrive, but knows he shouldn’t. Budd would be great family pet or companion for an adult. On a scale of 1-10, I would rate him at a 7 for maintenance. He would most certainly benefit from regular walks (at least once a day). He has very short hair, so he needs very little grooming, but we have been bathing him every ten days. He also needs to get his toe nails clipped every 8-10 weeks. Finally, he eats about three cups of dry dog food every day and training/reward treats. Budd is neutered and up to date on all vaccines. For more information please email at chstinne@msn.com.

Baja

Baja
This beautiful girl is Baja, a 3 year old shepherd mix. She has been spayed and is up to date on all her shots. She loves to run around and play with other dogs and is good with people of all ages. She's very sweet and can be shy around new people, but she always warms up as soon as she's around you for a few minutes. She's great about letting you know when someone comes to the house, and is hilariously discriminatory against (only) green vegetables. We are moving to a small town home in a few weeks, leaving her with no yard and nobody to walk her or let her out during the hours we will be at work. We're looking for a home for her as soon as possible so she doesn't have to transition into two different new places. We hope to find someone preferably with a yard for her to run around in who will give her a loving, welcoming home. If you're interested please contact Brenda at 804-349-2979 or brenda.hentges@earthlink.net!

DaisyDaisyDaisy

Daisy
This is Daisy! She is a 6-year-old labrador retriever and beagle mix. As of June 2013, she weighed in at 60 pounds. Daisy is a sweet girl that loves attention, but on her terms. She will let you know she wants a little extra but all in all is very independent. While she is used to being around other animals, she will do best being the only pet in the home. She has grown up around kids, but as she ages she has shown less tolerant of small children. She has been eating PetSmart Simply Nourish dry dog food and loves her treats (given as rewards). She loves rawhide bones, chasing balls and carrying around a rope toy. She loves giving kisses and she will almost beat something down with her tail as she wags it when she's happy. She is generally a very happy, sweet girl. Sadly we will be moving soon and due to our home having multiple pets and a small child, we think it is in Daisy's best interest if she is relocated to a new home. Daisy is spayed, up to date on her shots. She is also microchipped and up to date on her monthly preventatives (heartworm and flea/tick). All of her vet records are at the Richmond SPCA’s Clinic for Compassionate Care. If you would like to learn more about Daisy please contact Mary Beth: 804-314-6355 or mcs4hisglory@yahoo.com.

YogiYogi

Yogi
We are looking for a loving home for our puggle, Yogi. Yogi is 8 years old (born May 26, 2006) and he has been part of our family since he was a puppy. He spends the better part of the day lazing around the house, and at night he sleeps at the foot of our bed. But don’t let his idleness in the house fool you; he roams around excitedly during walks, often sniffing every blade of grass within reach! Yogi is very affectionate, healthy (all vaccinations are up-to-date, 23 lbs., neutered), and a great companion. Yogi has always been wonderful with children, especially with our oldest daughter who is five. However, our youngest daughter (20 months) is relentless with her “interest” in Yogi. Despite our best efforts, Yogi has become increasingly annoyed with her. Given Yogi’s age, our youngest daughter’s tenacious pestering, and the fact that we frequently have other small children running around the house, we sadly need to find a new home for our adorable puggle as soon as possible. All we want is for him to spend the rest of his days with a loving person or family (without small children). His crate, dog bed, leash and food will be provided. Please contact Andrew at heydecka@yahoo.com if you are interested in Yogi.

MimiMimiMimi

Mimi
Mimi was recently found as a stray with 2 kittens. I rescued all 3 and have fostered them for the last 3 weeks. My husband is extremely allergic so I need to rehome Mimi as soon as possible. She is approximately 9-12 months old, very friendly and loves to purr! She has apparently lived outside for quite some time and appeared very comfortable doing so, therefore, I feel she would do well as an indoor/outdoor cat. She doesn't appear to be phased at all by my 8 year old playing around her and petting her but doesn’t seem to be too fond of my dogs. Mimi does not like to be confined (she gets very anxious). Once I put her in my sunroom (which is larger with lots of windows), she immediately calmed down. I feel Mimi's personality will only continue to shine once she is away from her 11 week old kittens and settles into her new home. Mimi is spayed and up to date on her vaccinations. Contact lnaloyall@embarqmail.com or 804 592 9400 for adoption information.

Mischief

Mischief
My name is Mischief. I am a short haired calico kitty who loves dogs and people. I am up to date on all of my vaccines and I am also spayed. I was found as an orphaned kitten at the dump in Chesterfield. My people took me in and have cared for me for the past 4 years but they’ve recently gone through a life changing event and need to rehome me. My people went through a life changing event by having a baby. I don't do well around small children who chase and grab at me so I would likely do best in a home with older children or adults. I would also likely prefer a home without where I can be the only cat. While I am not a lap cat, I love to sit next to you or lay on you when you sleep. I love to play but I'm a little bit shy when I first meet people. Please come visit and let's see if we are a match! Email mchris3@gmail.com to learn more.

Old Boy

Old Boy
Meet Old Boy, the five-year old Foxhound/Beagle mix pictured. He is a very loving and grateful companion. Old Boy knows a handful of basic commands (“sit”, “shake”, “down”, “stay”, “come”, “give it up”), and is great on a leash, running or walking. He absolutely loves the outdoors, and is largely indifferent to non-canine animals, so no worries about lunging at squirrels or co-existence with cats (he currently lives with three). Old Boy is an only dog right now, though he seems to have more confidence when he feels like part of a pack, so he would fit well in a home with or without other dogs. He is a resource guarder (and so would probably be best in a home without children under thirteen), especially around people he doesn't know. He is also very scared of the vet once he enters the examination room. Situations that cause anxiety are best avoided with Old Boy, as his nervousness seems to be rather intense and fearful. That said, when he is comfortable and in a familiar environment, there is not a happier, sillier, more carefree dog. His favorite things to do are run and roll around in the grass. He is neutered, up to date on shots, and taking heartworm preventative medication. If you’d like to learn more about Old Boy and meet him, contact me at feger.phil@gmail.com.

NatalieNatalie

Natalie
Natalie is a 2-3 year old calico. She is very smart and likes to snuggle. Her ideal family is one without any other pets so she can be the center of attention. She loves attention from people, loves to be brushed and to sit on your lap, stomach or chest. She enjoys playing with wand toys, especially anything with feathers. If she wants to play she will bring the toy to you! She is also crazy about batting Q-tips and twist ties across the floor. Natalie is not happy in our home with 2 other cats. There is tension and sometimes fur flying, and poor Natalie runs and hides under the bed. I want her to be in a home where she can be relaxed all the time. Natalie has been spayed and is up to date on all her shots. She does need special food to prevent urine crystals. Please call or text Jane at 804-370-8541 if you have questions about Natalie.

GuinnessGuinness

Guinness
Looking for a running buddy? Guinness is a sweet, silly, loyal dog who will love you fiercely if you give him a chance. Guinness thrives in a structured environment. He knows simple commands like "sit", "come", "shake" (his favorite), and "leave it". He is approximately a 4-year-old plott hound. We rescued him one year ago from a shelter. He has some challenges which were not helped by instability in his past. He has anxiety and can be very protective of his owners, but we were generally able to manage the situation with him. We are expecting a baby and, after much soul searching and heartache, we felt that it would be best for Guinness to find him another home. We're looking for a great home for him. We believe that he will thrive in a stable home with no other animals or children and with someone who can give him the attention and support that he needs. If you're willing to put in the time to help him continue to grow up, he will be a loyal, eager-to-please lifelong companion. Guinness comes fully vet-checked and is up-to-date on all shots. He has also been neutered. If you are interested in learning more and want to meet him please contact us at hosten.morrison@gmail.com.

Baby Boy

Baby Boy
Baby Boy is a lovable, social 7-year-old short-hair neutered male. He was originally adopted through the Richmond SPCA’s Seniors for Seniors program. His human mom passed away suddenly, leaving him looking for another loving, single-cat household. As ‘King of the House,’ Baby does not take kindly to other felines. He’s good with dogs and children, but less than a happy kitty when other cats are around. Being an indoor cat, he’s great company; he loves to cuddle in your lap, sleep with you and play a little (when in the mood). You may go hours at a time wondering where he is, but he always knows where you are! He knows the sound of a cat food can being opened and ‘treat’ is his favorite word! He enjoys both canned and dry cat food. Baby Boy is up to date on all vaccinations. Please email mfisrh@verizon.net if you have room in your heart and home for Baby.

Chloe
Chloe is an 11-year-old, short haired domestic cat. She's declawed, spayed and up to date on all shots. Chloe is an indoor only cat, is litter box trained and has never shared a home with other pets. She is very independent, enjoys lounging around and is accustomed to a calm environment. She isn't a lap cat, though she will come to you for an occasional rub. She loves kneading and talking on her terms. She also likes to be brushed, but she's picky about being held. She's really easy to put on a schedule and will come looking for you when you're off schedule. She's been on the same cat food and litter for years (and would prefer to not have it changed) Chloe has been loved by our family since she was 6 weeks old. She's very lovable and would do well with a family that has older children and is looking to give an older cat lots of love. As a result of chronic illness, I have to find a new home for her. If you're interested in providing a loving home for Chloe, please contact Shonda at sdn4212@aol.com.

Although piper is extremely quick to warm up to people, she has trouble getting along with other cats and dogs. I don't think she has a lot of experience with other cats and dogs so it may just take some getting used to. I am deeply upset that we have to give her up, but finding her a new, safe home is the most important priority. Piper is spayed and up to date on her vaccinations. She was adopted from the Richmond SPCA. Please contact Lauren to learn more: 804-502-2850.

RamonaRamona

Ramona
Ramona is a curious little girl who loves attention. She’s about to turn 1 year old in August, and she plays well with other cats, as she has grown up with an older brother her entire life. She absolutely loves playing fetch, and will try to get you to play as much as possible! She will snuggle at night, but during the day, she’s wants to be outside enjoying the weather. She prefers not to be held or cuddled, and would be a perfect indoor/outdoor friend. Ramona is microchipped, spayed, and up to date on all shots. Feel free to contact Felisha at felishalynskey@gmail.com to hear more about this adventurous little girl!

Tina

Tina
Tina is an adorable female shepherd/labrador retriever mix. She is 1 year and 7 months old and weighs 50 pounds. Tina is tan with black markings. She is sweet, energetic, likes to walk and/or run (she would be a great running buddy for someone!), enjoys being outside and loves to be near you. She enjoys both indoor and outdoor time equally. She gets along with most other dogs but she is still learning how to take social cues from her friends. Tina has worked with a trainer and will “sit”, “lay down” and “wait”. She does well with cats but would probably do best in an adult only home. A fenced in backyard would be ideal. She is crate trained. Tina is spayed, microchipped and all shots are up to date. Her owner is moving and cannot take her. Please text, call or email if interested at 804-833-8187 or email kaminskival@gmail.com.

Gizmo

Gizmo
Gizmo is a petite (8 pound), 3-year-old short hair tabby. She is spayed and up to date on her shots. She loves attention and will quickly become your shadow. Gizmo hasn’t met someone she didn’t like! She likes to talk, play with bags and find small spaces to hide in. She loves to talk and find small spaces and has an odd fascination with bags. We are willing to include her litter genie and cat tree. We are unsure of how she is with other cats but she does tolerate dogs (she prefers to keep them at a distance). She does not have any diet restrictions but we haven't had any success switching her from grain free Science Diet (cat food with a higher protein content seems to give her diarrhea). She doesn't have any behavioral issues but is simply mismatched to our lifestyle. She would be an ideal match for someone looking for a constant companion and "lap" cat. If you would like to learn more about Gizmo, please contact me at mccoylf19@gmail.com.

PurDeePurDee

PurDee
PurrDee is a 2-year-old orange tabby. He is a lover boy who likes and needs human interaction, cuddle time and attention. He is energetic, playful, inquisitive and always friendly when meeting new humans. I rescued him a year ago, after the loss of my 17 year old calico. He has been my companion, entertainment and a joy to have in my life. Unfortunately, due to a change in necessary travel requirements, I have to make this difficult decision to re home him. A loving home where he will have freedom of movement, play time and cuddle time will surely make him a happy boy. He does not tolerate being in a crate or carrier for extended periods of time, nor does he thrive during periods of being alone when I am away. He was rescued with two other cats and has spent time with my friend's beagle and has shown no opposition to sharing his space with a dog. He enjoys playing with my grandsons, whom give him loads of attention, fun and exhausting play time. PurDee is neutered, declawed (front only) and up to date on all vaccinations. He is in overall good health. For more information or to meet this loving boy, please contact Pat at 804-869-8987 or lightfootmgr@aol.com.

Chap

Chap
Chap has been neutered at Prevent A Litter. He just visited the vet last month and is completely healthy and happy. Chap was born in March of 2009. He is black and white and named after Charlie Chaplin because of his mustache. He is a great cat and enjoys being outdoors. I went through a divorce and had to move to an apartment in the city and so he is now very unhappy that he cannot be outside. He got along well with the family pug we had. If you can provide him with a home which will include time outside but he wants to snuggle with you at night, please contact Jessica at 804-874-3312 or jessicaleonard22@gmail.com.

CavaCava

Cava
Cava is an adorable 2-year-old all black female cat with beautiful green eyes. She is very sweet and loves to curl up next to you on the couch. Her favorite pastime is sitting in the bathtub. She loves drinking out of the faucet or sitting behind the curtain! Unfortunately, I am moving and unable to take her with me. She has not lived with other cats or dogs but has interacted well with children. She does well being home alone for the day but loves attention when you return! She is very calm and well-mannered - no issues with scratching or using the litter box. I am sad to see this precious girl go but am hoping to give her to a good home! I am happy to give you her scratching posts and litter box as well. Cava is spayed and up to date on her vaccinations. She is healthy and has a regular diet. If interested please call/text Amanda at (571) 232-4725 or email aehughes@verizon.net.

Zoey

Zoey
Zoey is a spayed, 1-year-old lab mix. She is a sweet and loving girl and has a lot of energy. Being energetic, Zoey would enjoy a big yard where she can run and play. She loves attention and will show her guardian a lot of affection. She hasn’t spent much time with other dogs, but does not seem to have a problem with children. Zoey uses a crate, but doesn’t enjoy being alone. She was recently adopted from an animal control center and could use some training to improve her manners and housetraining. She is up to date on her shots and heart worm prevention. She had whip worm about 3 months ago, but has had no sign of return after her treatment. I recently got a new job and very demanding hours and don't have the time to give her the proper amount of exercise and training. Hopefully, her next guardian will have the time to give Zoey the exercise and training she needs. I love this dog and desperately want to find her a great home to fill her needs that I cannot! For more information, contact Michael at 804-896-6539.

Xiola is a 5-year-old, tortoiseshell domestic short-hair. She loves to sit in your lap for cuddling and play with cat toys. She can adapt to living with other cats and children. She is comfortable with being an indoor/outdoor/both. She is being re-homed because my two year old has developed cat allergies. I adore attention, but I won’t pester you. Brooklyn is spayed and up to date on vaccinations. She is healthy, an indoor cat and is on a regular diet. Duke

Duke
Duke is a 4-5 year old bloodhound/lab mix and weighs 100 pounds (don’t be intimated by his size – he is full of pure puppy love!). He is neutered and up to date on his shots (he typically goes to the vet in October). Although past his prime puppy dog years, Duke is still very playful and loves to play with squeaky toys and his people. His doggy manners are fabulous. He knows “sit”, “lay down”, “stay”, and we are still working on “leave it”. He is also super expressive and, if you give him a command such as “lay down” when he thinks you're being silly, he sometimes will fling himself on the ground with a big grunt/sigh. He's adorable and loves to play with kids. I'm not sure how he is with kids younger than 7 but he's a gentle giant scared of his own shadow. He doesn't like fireworks or thunderstorms as they scare him. It would be best if Duke doesn't go into a home with cats - they fascinate him to the point of chase-me. He gets along well with other dogs but I require a meet and greet just to make sure. Please call Cassie to learn more: 571-921-5943.

Bandit
Bandit is a 3-year-old pit/lab mix. Bandit is a very energetic guy and would enjoy a big backyard to play in and someone to take him on long runs. Once tuckered out, Bandit is sweet and cuddly. He loves to play with toys and chew bones. Bandit is up to date on all vaccinations, but has very dry skin. He would do best in a home without other dogs, but does fine with children under supervision. He truly is a sweet boy just needs far more time and energy than I have right now. He would come with the Blue Buffalo food I have left, toys, leash and collar if the new home would like it. For more information on Bandit, contact Nicki at jacksoln@gmail.com.

Beck

Becksy
Becksy is 11 years old and we have had her since she was a puppy. She is a walker coon hound and labrador retriever mix and weighs approximately 52 pounds. She is in relatively good health and up-to-date on her shots. She does have a pretty severe knee problem, (torn ACL) and we put her through surgery earlier this year to fix it but the surgery didn’t work. She can walk (and even run) but if she does too much then it becomes painful for her. We try to manage it by keeping her exercise down to just walking. Becksy would do best in a home without small children. In the right environment, she would be a fantastic addition to any home. Please contact Jonathan and Nellie to learn more: (804) 243-1844 and (804) 833-3858.

PaxPax

Pax
Meet "Pax", short for Paxon. Pax is a beautiful, striking (gold eyed and striped), healthy, neutered, 1-year-old, cream colored tabby cat. Pax was originally adopted about a year ago from a veteran who lived in Prince George. Pax is a shy and mellow, but sometimes goofy kitty. He is a very sweet guy and loves to spend his day lounging in the sun and staring out the window. While he can come off as aloof, he will seek affection on his own terms.Overall, he's a low maintenance little guy. We're rehoming him due to health and financial reasons. While we would love to keep him, our current situation won't allow it. It is our hope that he finds a terrific "cat person" who understands and loves the weird and quirky nature of felines in general. Pax would do best in a home without dogs, although he can co-exist with them if necessary. Pax has no health problems to date and has been evaluated by a vet (at the offices of Dr. Locke Taylor) within the past year. He does have a peculiar trait: two of his toes are conjoined on one of his paws. However, you would never know as he is in no way hampered by this oddity. It just makes him that much more special and unique! If you are interested in Pax, contact Andrew at 804-874-2122 or aschultz725@gmail.com.

MagMadMagMadMagMad

Maggie and Madison
This is Maggie and Madison. They are 10 year old female, spayed dogs. Maggie is a beagle mix (more brown), and Madison is a coon hound mix (more black). They are best friends (more like sisters), and are laid back, love to take walks, naps and play in the backyard. My mom passed away suddenly on mother’s day and left these two to me and my younger brothers. She loved these dogs, and took such good care of them. It’s just too much pain for us to keep them and my brothers are too young to have the responsibility of dogs. We are unable to give them the home that they deserve. They are up to date on their shots, etc. and I have all of their paperwork from the vets. My mom took better care of the girls than she did herself. Her phone was filled with pictures of the girls and they were loved very much. We would love to have them go to a home with a fenced in yard together but think the most important thing is that they are adopted and loved. They are pretty well socialized with other dogs, and are lazy around the house, but get so excited when they see a leash! They never have accidents, and are sweet girls who love to be pet. They don’t jump on people and are good with kids. Please contact Sarah to learn more: sabubake@richmond.edu.

Conway

Conway
Hi! I'm Conway I am a 5-year-old neutered male. I weigh about 50 pounds. I have the soul of a puppy so I need a big back yard to be able to play in. I do great with other dogs and kids but would prefer a home without cats. I need someone who is willing and able to be with me for most of the day. I know how to “sit”, “stay”, “shake”, “lay”, “play”, but I also know when to “leave it” when you tell me to, and I'm not a big barker! My downfall is that I should be in a crate when you're not home because I get bored easily and if you’re not watching I may find something to entertain myself with (but over all I am a mild mannered gentleman looking for someone to spend the rest of my life with!. Please contact Nick if you would like to learn more about me: 434-882-0819 or nhancock89@gmail.com.

MarilynMarilynMarilyn

Marilyn
We are in search for a great home for our sweet dog Marilyn. She is approximately 3 years old and was adopted from the Richmond SPCA by my family a year ago. She is a lab-hound mix with lots of energy and likes to play. As much as we love this sweet dog, it has recently become very clear that she will do much better in a single dog family. We are quite sad to have to find a new home for this sweet dog, but we really do want what is best for her. She has a very rough style of play with our other other dogs and it is often not well reciprocated. She is quite possessive over food and toys when other dogs attempt to share. For the safety of our other dogs and for Marilyn - we would love for her to find a home where she can expend lots of energy. She is spayed and has all of her veterinary care up to date through the Clinic for Compassionate Care where she can stay as a client if adopted. She is healthy and has received heart worm and tick/flea prevention over the past year. She has been an outdoor dog for as long as we have owned her, but is familiar with a leash. She loves to swim, play fetch and even stays close to home when she is off the leash. She is highly motivated by food--knows basic commands like shake, stay, down and sit (except if it's too cold on the ground, she will just crouch!). Marilyn would probably do best in a home where can be have plenty of room to stay active and where there are not small children or elderly as she has a tendency to not "stop" when running to greet you and jump up to say Hi. If you are interested in adopting Marilyn and providing her the home she deserves please contact us at downsgf@gmail.com or 804-387-6571. Marilyn has been spayed and veterinary services are up to date through the Clinic for Compassionate Care at the Richmond SPCA.

This is Calli! Calli is a siamese mix and is 9 years young. She is spayed, up to date on shots, de-clawed and very soft. She will do best in a home without dogs or older dogs that are not terribly energetic. She is okay with other cats. She prefers a quieter home, so maybe older children, but she doesn't seem to mind kids either way. Calli is an indoor only cat. She is independent and likes to come to you (on her terms). She is a lap cat, but doesn't like to be carried around. Calli has a long life ahead of her and would love to spend it with you. Please email merritt.droste@yahoo.com with the subject CALLI if you are interested.

Roxy is a pit bull terrier and is about 2-years-old. She is house-trained and has learned several commands, such as, sit, lie down, and shake. Roxy is a fun-loving dog who would make a great addition to a family with no small children or animals. She loves to play tug-of-war, but also enjoys cuddling and is very easy-going. Roxy is a quick learner and would benefit from training, but she is a quiet, submissive dog who loves everyone. Roxy is spayed and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations. PogoPogo

Pogo
Pogo is a sweet 14-year-old female orange tabby cat (rare!) who I've had since she was a 6-week-old kitten. She is smart and loving and amazing, but my wife is severely allergic, and I have to find her a new home. She is fine around dogs (used to live with one) and kids (currently lives with one). She loves people – she will walk right up to you and start talking, rubbing and flopping around your feet (hoping you’ll scratch and pet her, of course). She still has her claws, so she is happy both inside or out, but never ventures further than the yard because she likes being close to "her" space. She loves to snuggle and purr - a lap cat if there ever was one. Pogo is spayed and up to date on vaccinations. She has always used the litter box. She is very healthy for her age (the vet commented that her teeth are in better shape than cats half her age). Like many older cats, she has a thyroid issue, and takes a pill twice per day to keep it from getting out of whack. I love her, and I am sad to have to give her up, but I have no choice. If you adopt her I will be happy to continue to pay for all of her routine medical expenses (thyroid medication, vet check-ups, etc.). Please contact Brad at (434) 882-3212 or email me at bradperry.virginia@gmail.com if you are interested in precious Pogo.

Ajax
Ajax is a sweet, playful, affectionate beagle mix in need of re-homing. He is about 8 years old and 40 lbs. Neutered and well-behaved, he is house trained and very quiet. Ajax is great with kids, adults, and other dogs, though he has never been around a cat. His owners work multiple jobs and do not have the time or finances to provide him with a happy home any longer. He has mild arthritis and would prefer to find an environment that would not require any unnecessary climbing. Owners would provide "memory foam" dog bed, toys, and bedside doggie stairs. He will be a great addition to a household with lots of love to give! Please contact laura.p.spencer@gmail.com to learn more.

HollandaiseHollandaise

Hollandaise
Hollandaise is a pretty petite 8-ish pound fur ball of love and oh boy will she tell you about it (she is one chatty cat)! She showed up on my door step in late June and when I contacted her previous owner (she is chipped) the woman was not interested in taking her back. Even though I was not looking to adopt a pet at the time I figured that I would try and make this work for her. Unfortunately, all the reasons why I was not looking to adopt at the time have only gotten worse (unpredictable schedule, travel, etc.) and neither Hollandaise nor I are happy with how things are going. She is a kitty who likes her human(s) around and wants a lot of attention and affection. She loves everyone but is a little skittish around younger children (however, she has never has scratched or bitten). She has been a regular at Cary Street Vet, first to get her all back in working order after her time on the mean, mean streets and after for boarding, so she is all up on shots and has been spayed. Contact Stacy at stacysimms@gmail.com to learn more.

Abigail
Abigail is a gray, short haired tabby cat with pretty green eyes. She is 3 years old and needs a home where she can be around her owner but not necessarily in your lap. She likes to sit beside you and occasionally will sit in your lap for a minute or two. She likes you to know she is there, but she's not a cuddle bug. She likes to watch birds out the window and chase her toy mice around the floor. Abigail is spayed and microchipped. She likes canned food only due to an acute bladder flare in December, but she hasn’t had a problem since I took away the dry food. Her shots are up to date. Abigail is good with other cats. She has only been around her sister for the last two years. She was around dogs at her previous owners, but not in the past two years. Gizmo
Gizmo is a 2-year-old chihuahua/terrier mix. She is a very sweet and gentle companion. She enjoys going for walks and running around outdoors. Gizmo would likely do best in an adult-only home, preferably with a single adult. She can be timid at first, especially around men, but once she has fallen in love with you she is attached! She becomes very comfortable and outgoing around the person she bonds with. She loves to give kisses! She will make a wonderful companion for someone who has time to work with her and give her the singular attention she needs. Gizmo does well with other dogs, but it taks her a few days to get used to the idea of being around a new canine friend. She has the tendency to become a bit jealous. Gizmo has been spayed and is up to date on vaccinations. If you are interested in giving Gizmo a great home, please contact Rhobyn at 804-240-2034.

The car hit her in a way that affected her growth plate and resulted in her having a short back leg. That doesn’t stop her from being the fastest runner at the dog park though! At her most recent vet visit the vet did a few x-rays on her hips and leg just to see how things healed. Unfortunately, the results were not very good and will cost a couple thousand dollars. Her pain and joint care is now being managed with taking pills every 8-12 hours, and with my work schedule and my husband being deployed I do not have time to keep up with her medication along with her energy level. I also do not have the money to get her the surgeries that she needs to recover fully so she doesn't have to take pills for the rest of her life. I love this dog and it hurts me knowing that I can’t fully provide for her medical care or keep up with her medications. Maebe loves other dogs and children, she would really be the perfect dog for a big family. She loves to be around people at every opportunity. I hope to find a loving home that can give her what she needs medically and physically, and of course to love her as much as my husband and I do if not more. Maebe is spayed and up to date on her vaccinations. Please call or email Alyson to learn more: aalysonnn@gmail.com or 804-551-4005.

Baby

Baby
Baby came to our home last summer. He was my mother's baby and when she passed away, we brought him into our home. He is an 8-year-old neutered male. His last vet visit was at the Shady Grove Animal Clinic last summer. All of his shots were updated then. He is indoor/outdoor and has been treated with Frontline Plus. He is a domestic short hair tuxedo cat. He is very sweet to all people (including small children) and gives great hugs but unfortunately, does not get along well with our other cats. Please contact lostchick72@gmail.com or 804-869-4754 if you are interested in learning more. Thank you!

Ember

Ember
Ember is 1-year-old. She is a young, very playful and would benefit from a lot of attention. She gets along well with dogs but would likely prefer to be the only pet in a home. She has lots of toys that she loves and enjoys her nap times in the window. Ember enjoys waking up early – she likes to eat her breakfast at 6 a.m. on the dot! If you would like to learn more about this beautiful feline, please contact Jessica at jpohoreskey@vablood.org.

Judy

Judy
We are searching for a new loving home for our 5-year-old hound, Judy. She is laid back and enjoys spending her time outside exploring. She will not adjust to being crated; this will cause her great anxiety. She will need to be confined to a larger room/area, if necessary. Judy is housetrained, spayed and is current on her vaccines. She has adapted to living with another dog and although she is curious about the cat, she has not exhibited a “prey” tendency. Judy has been around both young and old children without any issues. Judy walks well on a leash and enjoys car rides. She has worked with a trainer and has learned simple voice commands. We are looking to rehome Judy to an environment where she will be more comfortable than our suburban neighborhood (a more rural setting or a home with a large fenced yard). Please contact Kathy at kaclopton@live.com or 804-432-2300 if you are interested in having Judy join your family.

Mickey

Mickey
Mickey is a very loving cat in search of a new home. Her owner had to move across the country and is not allowed to have pets. Mickey has been staying with “the grandparents” but we already have other cats and she is very particular about sharing her owner’s lap. She spends most of her time indoors, but enjoys a little time out on the deck in the sun when it’s warm. She has never tried to run away, seeming to enjoy keeping things simple and unadventurous. She is truly very sweet and loves to sit next to her owner, but really should be the only cat in the family. She also gets along with our two dogs (too big for anyone’s lap, however!). Mickey is spayed and up to date on vaccinations. She is also current on all flea and tick preventatives. For more information, please contact ftehan@comcast.net.

PiperPiperPiper

Piper
Hi there! My name is Piper and I am a 2-year-old spayed black labrador retriever and beagle mix. I love people of all sorts. In fact, I would do anything to be with them; being alone makes me really anxious. I love my toys, and even though I try to be good, I chew on things if I don't have them. I love to talk, and will let you know if I want to go outside or if I'm feeling alone. If I am left alone outside I will try to escape, whether it be by jumping over a fence, chewing on my leash, squeezing through cracks, or even digging underneath things. (I’m a very social girl! I like to get out and run and meet people, okay?! Like I said, I don't like to be alone.) I get bored really quickly -- I'm the girl for active people and constant companions. I would do really well with a person that has the time and patience (and energy) to work with me in basic and agility training. I’m smart, but strong-headed, so patience and consistency are crucial with me. I really need a person or family that can spend lots of time with me, keeping me busy and entertained. I am up to date on my shots. I ask to go outside when I need to use the bathroom. I love animals and people. (Cats don’t necessarily like me, but I just want to play!) I’m sweet and loving. (And snuggly when I’m all tuckered out!) I love my current family, but they are just too busy to give me the time and attention that I crave. Please give me a happy new home! If you would like to meet me, please contact Jean at hstng241@live.com.

LucyTina

Lucy and Tina
We are looking for a new home for our two cats, Lucy and Tina.  For the past eight years, these girls have been fantastic members of the family, cuddle buddies and fellow world travelers.  However, our toddler has severe cat allergies and, with another baby on the way, we feel that we cannot meet the cats’ needs and wants that they so deserve. The girls do not need to be adopted together as they are not very fond of one another.

Lucy is a 7-year-old domestic medium hair tortoiseshell. She weighs 11 pounds and is full of spunk. Lucy is gorgeous and she knows it. She loves to cuddle on her own terms and enjoys being in the middle of all household activities, especially Christmas tree decorating. Lucy’s one quirk is that she will not drink still water and must have her water fountain (which we will give to whoever adopts her). She would thrive as an only pet in a home with older children. Lucy is spayed, declawed, microchipped and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations.

Tina is a 5-year-old domestic short hair calico. She was born on the streets of Osan in South Korea and we adopted her from the SPCA on base. Tina can be shy and timid at first, but warms up eventually and will be quite the lap cat. Tina is very curious and loves to explore everything. Her favorite time of the day is meal time. She would do best in a home with no children with an established and consistent routine and plenty of snuggles. We have a large cat tree that she enjoys and would like to give to whoever adopts her. Tina is spayed, declawed, microchipped and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations. Please contact Meagan at meagan.m.gallagher81@gmail.com for more information on Lucy and Tina.

GarminGarmin

Garmin
Abandoned at a veterinary clinic on a cold winter night, Garmin deserves much better. Garmin is a young adult, male, grey and white tuxedo domestic short hair cat. He is full of spunk and love. A curious kitty, he will want to be involved in whatever you are doing. He will place a paw on your leg as if to ask, “Can I see," yet all he really wants is for you to scratch his head and to curl up in your lap. He is equally happy chasing a ribbon or napping in the sun. Garmin has Feline Leukemia, meaning he must be an indoor-only cat and should only live with other Feline Leukemia positive cats. Despite his illness, Garmin will give nothing but love and deserves a loving, permanent home. Garmin is neutered and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations. If you would like to know more about Garmin, please email Jenny at Jenkins.426@gmail.com or call her at 330-715-8327.

Shadow
Shadow is a 9-year-old long hair cat from Belgium. He is neutered and declawed. We have had him since he was 8 weeks old. He is very well behaved, likes to take naps in the sun and is not too terribly playful. He currently lives with two dogs and another male cat. The male cat was introduced to Shadow as a kitten; we do not know how he would fare with another adult, although he is very laid back. An impending move back to Europe dictates limiting the number of our pets. Shadow is ok with change, but it does take him some time to adjust. He is current on all vaccines. Please email JoLynda at babyjo1973@hotmail.com if you are interested in learning more about Shadow.

MaxMolly

Max and Molly
These beautiful dogs are Max and Molly. Max is the chocolate Labrador retriever and Molly is the yellow Labrador retriever. They are both about 11-years-old and Max weighs around 95-100 pounds while Molly weighs about 85 pounds. We are looking for a new home because of some difficult situations at home. We have four dogs and an older adult with medical issues living with us in our home, which is very stressful. Max and Molly would do best together as they have been each other’s companion since puppyhood. Max did have separation issues as a young dog but these have lessened as he has aged. Max and Molly are both house-trained, but they need to go outside more frequently due to their age. Both dogs are healthy but Molly shows signs of tenderness in her hips when she walks. They are friendly with people and other animals and would probably do best in a quiet, adult-only home with a backyard. Both dogs are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations and have been neutered and spayed, respectively. If you are interested or have any questions or concerns please call either 804-357-5659 or 804-363-1962 and ask for either Russ or Kim.

She is an 8-year-old mix. She is spayed and up to date on vaccinations. She loves chasing soccer balls and running around outside. She is crate trained. She does well with other dogs, cats and kids. As you can tell she has one ear that flops over. The vet said she must have had an insect bite that got infected and was never treated, causing swelling in her ear and it to flop. We would like to find a loving home for our dog, Sara (who has many nicknames, including Sara Bones). We adopted Sara from the Henrico Humane Society in 2006. Sara is well behaved in our home and in public, gets excitable when she hears and sees certain things on the television and happily alerts us to delivery trucks. LokoMilo

Loko and Milo
Hi, all! Loko and Milo are one-year old tabby domestic short hair males (and litter mates). Loko has a little bit of white, and Milo is all orange. They are both neutered and up to date with their vaccines. I’m looking for someone to foster my boys for a year and a half to two years due to an issue with my lease Loko and Milo are terribly sweet, however, Loks is more of a people-oriented cat and Milo likes to hang around and receive attention, but he's not as close and personal. Both are amazingly friendly kitties, though! Neither of them bite or scratch (unless you rub their tummies without their consent). You'll find Loko on your chest or right by your head when asleep, and Milo will probably be at the foot of your bed or somewhere close by. They go nuts for some wet food and their catnip toys! I really do love these guys more than anything, and that's why we're looking for foster care rather than taking re-homing them permanently. I want us to be able to be a family again once this contract is up! If you're interested in meeting them, or have questions, please feel free to call Laily at 202-652-5026 or send an email to yeaitsme3@gmail.com. Thank you!

Bailey would love a home with a fenced in backyard so he can run around to get some of his energy out. He loves to play with toys and rubber balls. His favorite game is tug but loves fetch as well. I am rehoming Bailey because I have to move and cannot afford a home that is large enough for the two of us. He would do best in a home without other dogs or small children. Embry, Flash, Spark and Ash
These felines are four 1-year-old brothers who get along well with each other, other cats and kittens. They were born in an abandoned house and were living in the walls of the house before I was able to catch them. I was able to take them in and get them medical attention. They were born with an eye condition, but have since had eye surgery to correct it. They do not require special medical attention, just regular check-ups. They need to be indoor-only cats. They don't see perfectly, but run, jump and play like any other cats. I prefer to adopt them in pairs if at all possible, but I need to find them good homes as soon as possible, as I am moving out of the country and can't take any extra cats with me (I already have four). They are extremely good-natured and enjoy companionship. These cats are all up to date on vaccinations, have had regular vet check-ups and have all been fixed. Please contact me at 804-937-3532 and leave a voice message with your contact information or email me at rachel.elves@gmail.com. These are fantastic cats, and I really want to make sure they get good homes.

Embry (brown and black tabby) - He's a sweet little cat who loves cuddles, sitting on laps and being picked up. He purrs a lot, will greet you at the door and will follow you around the house to keep you company.

Ash (black short hair) - Ash is a beautiful, sleek, black, panther-like cat who has an endearing personality. He likes to sleep beside you or at your feet at night, and will purr and knead. He will go to whatever room you are in and just likes to hang out with you quietly. He adores cuddling and getting baths from other cats. He loves to play. Ash is a bit skittish around people he doesn't know. He couldn't see well until after his surgery, and he is still a little scared from time to time.

Flash (brown and black tabby) – He’s a friendly little guy who likes to bump heads with you and rub against you because he's so happy to see you! He likes being picked up and will cuddle next to you at night. He loves to perch at windows or on dressers or other high places.

Spark (brown and black tabby) – He has beautiful markings and soft fur. He is really playful and likes to play with you or other cats, and to get exercise by running around the house a few times a day. Every evening and morning he makes sure to cuddle with you - he will purr and knead and will snuggle next to you for a while. He is a more independent type of cat who is still very affectionate.

Jasmine and AbuJasmine

Jasmine and Abu
This is Jasmine and Abu. They are 7 years old and yes, both cats are named after Aladdin. They fit the part perfectly! Jasmine, the white and tabby cat is quite a little princess. We call her our daytime cuddler because if you are home during the day, get ready for some serious cuddles and lots of bread-making! She is as sweet as they come. Abu, our little monkey, is part Bengal cat. He is probably more like a dog than a cat! He will wait for you to come home by the door, loves to play with toys and loves to play in running water. He becomes a cuddle monster and won’t leave your side at night though. Together, they are an amazing pair of felines with lots of love to give. It is breaking our heart to re-home them but we must due to severe allergies in the family. Jasmine and Abu are both up to date on shots and are also spayed/neutered.  They will come with two cat litter boxes, a one month supply of litter and food.  They get along great with dogs and kids. If interested in meeting them, please email kelli.martines@gmail.com or call 804-432-2150.

Bonnie

Bonnie
Bonnie is an 11-year-old brown tabby and in good health. She is spayed and vaccinated. Her look is a very sleek. She is a declawed, litter trained, indoor only kitty. She likes her litter mate but does not like the other household cats and treats them badly. She therefore lives in a nice sun porch to keep the peace. Bonnie would do well with a stay at home, one cat owner without children or dogs. This would allow her to have the “run of the house” and more attention. She could be the princess! She is a little anxious but can be affectionate once she adjusts to someone new. Bonnie will sometimes “make bread” by kneading your arm or leg when with you. Her favorite spot is the top shelf of her cat “condo” by the window where she loves to watch birds. She likes getting in cardboard boxes and her favorite game is playing with a piece of string or rope with her owner. She also has a toy squirrel tail she loves to carry around! Please call Diane at (804) 814-2962 to provide Bonnie a new home.

FlipFlop

Flip and Flop
Flip and Flop are not sisters but are best buddies and have been together the better part of their three years. Both girls are spayed and up to date on shots. The all black cat, Flop, is more playful and energetic while the tuxedo cat, Flip, is more of a lap cat. Both have always been around children. I know they would love to stay together if possible. Edith

Edith
We are looking for a new forever home for our fabulous cat, Edith Wharton! Edith is up to date on all of her shots and she is spayed. She is also declawed in the front, so she is an inside-the-house kitty only. I found Edith six years ago in a Fan alley on Valentine's Day evening. I love her so much, but we are getting ready to travel a lot due to my husband's new job. Edith is a solid cat. She's lounges around, she's laid back and she's not afraid of things. She loves to be with people and definitely needs someone who wants a close companion. Be prepared to snuggle.  Edith would be great for a single person, a couple, or a family who wants to lavish lots of love and attention on her. I think she'd be ok with dogs who like cats and who are laid back and not high energy. Please contact me (Elizabeth) by calling or texting 804-929-4747 if you are interested in adopting our sweet furry friend Edith Wharton.

Caramel

Caramel
Meet Caramel! She is a 9 year old medium sized (42ish lbs.), Aussie/Shepherd mix with black/brown brindle coloring who is spayed, microchipped and up to date on her shots. She LOVES attention and has never had issues with people. She is completely housebroken and crate trained, but we have not had to use the crate for several years. She'll do just about anything for a treat and, as a result, has mastered her basic commands of "sit", "lay down" and "stay" in addition to party tricks like "up", "paw", and "speak." Because of her age, she prefers to snore most of the day away, but she can still run our 3-year-old Cattle Dog into the ground without blinking. She loves car rides, and has no issues with long trips. Caramel operates best in a home where she is the only dog (cats/other animals are not a problem for her). If you would like to meet Caramel, please email Nichole at nknapp@dnepc.com. Thank you!

Gus

Gus
Hi! My name is Gus, Gussy, GusBear, Puppy and Dog! I am an almost 8-year-old Chihuahua/Pug mix. I have adorable floppy ears, a curly tail, a round body (I might be a little on the overweight side by more pounds then I care to mention! My human says I weigh, 22lbs... but who is counting, right!?) and the sweetest personality. I love everybody!! I am a lover and snuggling is my favorite activity. I need a home and a family that has lots of time for those snuggles. My family now has gotten too busy for me and it isn't fair to me or my poor little bladder. I would do great in a home with maybe a retired human that could take me on walks, let me out to do my "business" often and wouldn't mind letting me sit on their lap ALL the time! If that human had grand kids that might visit or we could visit that would be great... I love kids and road trips! I am not really a talker. I only bark when I have something important to say and I know you would want to hear it, like, when someone is at the door or there is a strange noise outside. I am honestly the most laid back dog. I love lying on the couch and watching TV. I love sleeping curled up in blankets and if I am allowed in the human bed sleeping at someone's feet. My family is so sad at the thought of letting me go, but they know that I will find the perfect home and new family to love me just as much as they do. If you would like to meet me or have any questions my humans have an email: enmcallister@gmail.com. If you think you could love me, please, send an email because I would love to meet you! Love, Gus (via his human, Nicole)

Lucy

Lucy
Lucy is a sweet pit bull terrier and weimaraner mix. She is a little over 1 year old, spayed and up to date on all of her shots. She is very active and would love to be taken on lots of walks. She likes lots of attention and could benefit greatly from training. She is great with our two daughters, but we have another on the way and we think that Lucy would be better in a home where she can get more attention. Please contact Eric at 804-325-3105 or ericdecatur@yahoo.com.

Ombra

Ombra
Ombra (French for "Shadow") was rescued by her owner nine years ago when she appeared on the back deck. At the time, a French foreign exchange student was living with the family and gave her the name Ombra because of her short-haired gray coat. Upon being rescued, Ombra was spayed and tested negative for FeLV/FIV. She has since been declawed and continues to get fantastic reports at her annual checkups. She is up to date on her vaccinations. Ombra is now 10 and her owners are relocating soon and will not be able to take her with them. She is a very sweet and loving indoor cat. Her favorite place is anywhere her owner is, laying in a lap. She loves to wait at the door when you come home and loves to sit and look out the window for you when you're gone. She even gives kitty kisses when you're petting her, which can make children a little nervous. Ombra does have a fear of dogs. If you're interested in more information on Ombra, please email cobbssi@gmail.com.

Kitten

Kitten
Kitten is an extremely cute and curious cat. She is about 8 years old and was literally born in a barn. She belonged to my previous wife who died and I have kept her since; however, I am going to be moving soon and my new landlord will not allow me to have her. Even though she is getting to be middle aged, she still has the look of a kitten about her and her name was well chosen. Kitten loves playing with water and will drink right out of the faucet. She can be a little nervous at first, but warms up to people pretty quickly and loves to lay on your chest or stomach. She is current with all her shots and has been spayed and microchipped. She currently lives with cats and dogs. Please email me at liliafan@gmail.com if you are interested in Kitten. Thanks!

Little Bull

Little Bull Dodson
Hello, my name is Little Bull. I was the runt of the litter, so my human grandma named me Little Bull. I now am the biggest puppy at 55 lbs. and have a brown and white coat. I am neutered and up to date on my shots. I would love to be adopted with one of my siblings because we are so close, but if that is not possible, it will be ok. I love to lie around and be petted. I can also be a bit of a mischief-maker, but it is all in good fun! I will need some help with house and crate training. I am currently working on walking on a leash and I am doing pretty well at it. I have never met a cat, so I am not sure if I would like them. I have only been around the other dogs in my family before. I have never met any children, but grandma hugs me a lot. There is one last important thing to know about me: I love to give kisses and sleep in grandma's bed. Well, that is all this is to say about me. Hope to meet the right new family soon!

Little Bull is one of a litter of six puppies (three boys and three girls) available for adoption. They are American Staffordshire Terrier and Razor Edge Bull Terrier mixes. They were born June 25, 2012. If you are interested in adopting one of these puppies, please contact Angelique at 804-502-1108 or Lee at 804-439-0484. Thank you for your interest!

Teddy Bear Dodson
Hello, my name is Teddy Bear. I currently weigh about 48 lbs. and have a reddish brown coat. I have all my shots and been spayed. I love to play with every human I meet and give them kisses. I also love to lay in bed with my human grandparents. I am a good cuddler, but I can also be very playful. I love to spend time with my brothers. I have never met a cat or another dog. I will need help with crate and house training. I have no experience with children, although my human grandma sure acts like one sometimes. I can be adopted with or without one of my siblings.

Winston
Winston curled up in a box

Winston
Winston came into my life very early on Thanksgiving morning in 1995 via a good friend who found him as a kitten on his newspaper route. My friend couldn’t keep the kitten (already named after Sir Winston “the Pushful” Churchill), so I took him in. Winston has been great company since. He’s a very friendly cat. He got along well with the other cat I adopted that year, but since my most recent cats arrived, Winston has not adjusted well. He is currently confined away from the other cats. He is now 17 years old and has arthritis, for which he takes a feline joint supplement. For more information about Winston, please contact Bill at pastshelfdate@i-c.net. Thanks!

Darla

Darla and Dixie
Dixie (brindle boxer mix) and Darla (tan pitt mix) are rescues. They have been spayed, treated for fleas/ticks, vaccinated, house/crate trained, etc. Due to unexpected changes in our household, we must find new homes for them as soon as possible and do not require that they be adopted as a pair. They are two years old, weigh about 30 lbs, are super friendly, and do best with children 6+ years old. They do not seem to get along well with cats, though, and will need plenty of exercise. While they still have puppy energy, they love just as much to be couch potatoes. Dixie is more docile and loves to follow you around the house while Darla is more playful and curious. If you would like to learn more about Dixie or Darla, or to come over for a visit, please email brownhl123@yahoo.com or call Claudia Brown (804) 221-5130. Thanks!

Pluto

Pluto
Pluto is an 11-year-old male cat who is neutered and up to date on all shots. He's a chubby, fluffy boy who loves to be petted and will follow you from room to room just to sleep near you wherever you are. He's also very playful and will "fetch" small cat toys and even wadded up bits of paper. He's lived mostly as an indoor cat. Pluto gets along well with other cats, dogs, and children – he never scratches or hisses! He needs a home with hardwood or other uncarpeted space to live in, as he does sometimes confuse carpeting and litter boxes. For a family with the right home, he will be a loving, amazing pet! For more information, please email jlcadwallader@gmail.com.

Maggie

Maggie
Maggie is about 1 year old and still has a lot of puppy in her! She is a fairly large dog weighing just shy of 60 lbs. We think she is an Irish Wolfhound/Black Lab mix, and it really shows in how affectionate she is with everyone she meets. She is spayed and fully vaccinated. She can definitely be excitable (not jumping up is hard when you're so happy!), but the high energy is all puppy-bursts and she spends more time lounging than roughhousing. She needs a home with structure and routine to help her be the best dog she can be. She's incredibly sweet and definitely a people dog; Maggie is eager to please... when she isn't distracted by that pesky squirrel! She does well with cats and dogs. She is housetrained with no destructive tendencies and walks relatively well on a leash (still pulls a little, but is getting better). Will she be the newest member of your family? For more info, email us at abigail.leigers@gmail.com.

Jake
This handsome guy is Jake! He is one year old and weighs about 50 pounds. He is looking to be someone’s best friend. He is loving and compassionate. He gives kisses, hugs, and will definitely make you feel better on a bad day. He likes other dogs and would prefer a home with a buddy for him. He would do best in a home without children. He is housetrained. Jake needs a home that has the time to work with him and keep up a structured routine. He can get protective over his home and people, so he will need some training. He is up to date on his shots and neutered. He has a crate, mat, and other supplies that will go with him to his new home. To learn more about this fellow, please call Vanessa at 617-971-6777.

Felix

Felix and Owen
Felix and Owen are 6-year-old brothers and need a new home. Felix is solid gray and loves attention. Owen is solid black and a bit shy, but really wants to be loved. We are both neutered and declawed.  Our mom adopted us two years ago, but our family has three dogs and we are very afraid of them. We are kept in a separate part of the house away from everybody, until at night when my mom goes to bed. We are healthy and have a regular diet. We aren't picky, but Tuna is our favorite. If you are interested in us please contact Angela at (804) 955-6859.

Tobias
This Maine Coon mix cat is Tobias. He is about 6 years old and he has been neutered. He has FIV, which means he should be the only cat, but he's such a sweetie that's all you would need!
