Now is a great time to start fundraising and training for our upcoming event! It could earn you some of the pretty amazing prizes list below.

If you're ready to start fundraising, it's easy to form a team or fundraise as an individual using the page created for you following the registration process. Ask for support from friends, family and coworkers to help you become one of our top fundraisers! Need some tips to get started? Check out our fundraising tips document and then register online to start setting up your fundraising page. Already registered, but want to create a team? In 2014, prizes and awards that may be earned by top fundraisers, top 5K Run finishers and other supporters include:

Prizes for Fundraisers
All fundraisers who raise $500 or more in donations will receive a special prize!

Johnny Birkitt Hero Award: This is the highest honor presented annually at the Dog Jog and 5K Run to the person or team that shows the most spirit and dedication to the cause. This award is accompanied by a special certificate, recognition at the awards ceremony and an engraved plaque in the lobby of the Robins-Starr Humane Center. We present this award in memory of Johnny Birkitt and to honor the dozens of friends and family members who have demonstrated such deep committment to orphaned animals.

Grand Prize for Top Fundraising Adult: Two-night stay at The Boar's Head Inn in Charlottesville, Va., a $250 spa package from La Bella Dona Skincare, a year of bagels from Panera Bread and an adoption wall dedication

Prize for Second Highest Fundraising Adult: One-night stay at The Dupont Circle Hotel in Washington, D.C., a $50 gift certificate to Havana 59, one month of unlimited yoga at Bikram Yoga and a PetEdge gift basket

Prize for Third Highest Fundraising Adult: One-night stay at the Omni Nashville Hotel with breakfast for two, a one-hour massage from Rulli Chiropractic and a Hyper Pet Products gift basket

Grand Prize for Top Youth Fundraising Youth (age 15 and younger): One-night stay in a family suite with breakfast for four at Great Wolf Lodge in Williamsburg, Va., $50 gift certificate to G-Force Karts and four tickets to a Richmond Kicker's game

Grand Prize for Top Fundraising Team: 20 tickets to the Byrd Theatre, lunch from Xtreme Pizza, a year of bagels from Panera Bread and an adoption wall dedication

Prizes for Top 5K Finishers
Top Overall Male and Female 5K Finishers: $100 gift certificate to 3Sports, $50 gift certificate to Baja Bean Co., an assortment* of chai bars from Health Warrior, Inc., $25 gift certificate to Pink Palm (her) and $25 gift certificate to Natty Beau (him) and a year of bagels from Panera Bread.

Second Place Overall Male and Female 5K Finishers: $50 gift certificate to 3Sports, $50 gift certificate to Q Barbeque and an assortment* of chai bars from Health Warrior, Inc.

Third Place Overall Male and Female 5K Finishers: $25 gift certificate to 3Sports, $25 gift certificate to Mama J's and an assortment* of chai bars from Health Warrior, Inc.,

Top Three Male and Female 5K Finishers in each age group: Finishing place medal, courtesy of Crown Trophy

*Each participant will receive a 15-count box of chia bars to include the following assorted flavors: coconut, acai berry, chocolate peanut butter, banana nut, apple cinnamon and coffee.
