As part of our Project Safety Net, a group of programs designed to improve the lives of pets in our community and keep them in loving homes, the Richmond SPCA provides a low-cost Wellness Clinic for vaccines and preventative care.
Wellness clinics take place at the Richmond SPCA's Robins-Starr Humane Center, located at 2519 Hermitage Road. Low-cost preventative vaccinations and medications, as well as a physical exam, may be purchased during your appointment (see below for pricing). We provide wellness (preventative) services only, so treatment for injury or illness should be sought at your regular veterinarian. Appointments typically last 10 minutes. The clinic operates at the same standard of care as a private veterinary practice. Accepted forms of payment are cash and credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover). Payment is due at the time of service.
We see patients every Monday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and every Saturday (starting October 1) from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Appointments are required by calling 804-521-1320 or by e-mailing the clinic. Walk-in clients may have their pet vaccinated for rabies or microchipped, but we are not able to offer any other services to clients without appointments at this time. If you are unable to keep your appointment it is very important that you contact us to cancel and/or reschedule so that we may open up appointment space to other pets in need. Clients who fail to keep a scheduled appointment and who do not provide 24 hours advance notice of cancellation will not be eligible to receive future wellness clinic services.
- Pet must be spayed or neutered. Documentation of your pet's surgery (receipt or medical record) is required. If your pet is not spayed or neutered and you would like to make an appointment for a free or low-cost surgery through our Smoky's Spay/Neuter clinic, please click here or call 804-521-1300.
- Pet owner must be a resident of the City of Richmond, Chesterfield County, Goochland County, Hanover County, or Henrico County and meet our income requirements ($50,000 or lower combined household income).
- There is no income requirement to have your pet microchipped or rabies vaccinated, and you may come to have these services done without an appointment on Mondays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. or Saturday (starting October 1) between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m.
