"Tricks for Treats" Kids Halloween Party

Kids are invited to come to the Richmond SPCA for some Halloween fun! If you want to see some cool dog TRICKS, bring a TREAT for one of our shelter pets. We'll also have some fun kid-friendly activities including:

  • Spoooky Bandana Decorating
  • Kooky Cage Card Creations
  • Costume Contest
  • Halloween Treats

RSVP (recommended but not required)

Waggles' World Activities

Parents and teachers, please call 804-521-1327 to schedule. Please note, some of these programs are on hiatus during Summer, for Critter Camp, and will resume in early September.

  • Critter Camp Our fun and exciting one-week summer camp sessions at the Richmond SPCA. For ages 6 to 10.
  • Show Me the Way Home! Find out what to do if your pet gets lost and take our Mystery Tour. Ideal for school groups, grades 5 to 8. One hour.
  • Animal Care Grab Bag! Explore topics in animal care and take our Mystery Tour. Ideal for school tours, grades K to 5. One hour.
  • Mystery Tour! See a behind-the-scenes tour that most kids and grown-ups never get to see! For grades 3 to 12 and their parents or teachers. Ideal for school tours, grades 3 to 12, and parents and teachers. 1 hour.
  • Dog Bite Safety Since children account for more than half of all dog-bite victims, this lesson will teach kids how to protect themselves around pets in their neighborhoods. We will teach them how to interact with animals safely, including their own pets, friends’ pets and strays. Ideal for school tours, grades K to 6. One hour. $1 suggested donation. 
  • Sam and Sophia! A fun puppet show that shows kids what pets need to be happy. Ideal for pre-school tours. 30 minutes.
  • Animal Tales Join us in Waggles’ World for story time about a special animal. Ideal for mommy groups and preschools. Every child will go home with a balloon, a sticker and a fun, safe pet-related experience. $1 suggested donation per child.

  • Paws to R.E.A.D.® Have you ever read to a dog? Dogs love stories! Come and read soon. See Waggles' World Calendar for details and dates
  • Crafty Critters/Crazy for Crafts Visit Waggles’ World and make a fun animal craft. $2 suggested donation to cover supplies. For ages 6 to 10. 45 minutes to one hour, parents are welcome to stick around to help out. See Waggles' World Calendar for details and dates
  • Animal Brigade Create and put into action your very own project. An application is required. For ages 11 to 15.
  • Happy Birthday to You! A birthday party at the Richmond SPCA? Yes! We have games, decorations, invitations and party favors. We even let kids and friends play with the animals!
