Part-time position (20-32 hours per week)
We are seeking an energetic individual with a genuine desire to work for the welfare of the animals. You must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented atmosphere. Responsibilities include maintaining a clean and pleasant living environment for the dogs and cats in our shelter, monitoring their health and behavior, and providing extra TLC! We are looking for a dependable/punctual, self-motivated person who is willing to work at least one weekend day per week and has daytime availability (8am-5pm). Sorry, but we do not hire seasonal help. The position requires that you be 18 years of age or older, possess a valid driver’s license and a high school diploma (or equivalent). No experience necessary. Part time position – 16-24 hours per week and weekend work is required
Looking for outgoing, friendly person who enjoys working with customers to help them find the best pet for them. Must be energetic and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include assisting the public with appropriate adoption choices in a friendly, courteous and approachable manner. The right candidate must possess excellent customer service skills, light data entry skills, and the ability to work within a team environment while on the go. This job does require typing as well as occasional kneeling, stooping, using stairs, reaching, pulling and lifting weights up to approximately 75 pounds.
Requirements:
- Previous customer service experience/ability to solve customer service issues
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be comfortable handling/learning to handle both dogs and cats - general handling (petting, leash-walking, some lifting and carrying), and restraint (placing animals in cages/carriers)
- General cleaning, restocking, and upkeep of work space. Sweeping, dusting, mopping, taking out the trash, restocking files and other supplies. Maintenance of existing organizational systems
- Ability to multi-task and make appropriate prioritization decisions
- Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, MS Outlook)
- Valid driver’s license

Retail Sales Associate The Richmond SPCA is seeking a highly motivated and reliable individual to work in the organization’s gift shop as a Retail Sales Associate. This position is part time and requires a committment of 20 hours per week. The times needed are Tuesday-Friday 4-7:30 p.m. and Sunday 12-5 p.m. with some Saturday's needed as well.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Cashier Duties
- Keeping a tidy work space and general cleaning duties of the retail shop
- Keeping inventory stocked
- Keeping store layout and product displays tidy
- Completing accurate daily sales reconciliation
- Recommend, select and help customers locate the correct merchandise
- Take all incoming customer calls and transfer customer calls to appropriate staff
- Providing stellar customer service
Requirements:
- Occasional kneeling, stooping, using stairs, reaching, pulling and lifting weights up to approximately 50 pounds
- Previous retail experience preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, MS Outlook)
- Ability to multi-task and make appropriate prioritization decisions
- Comfortable with handling/learning to handle both dogs and cats (petting, fitting for collars or harnesses, etc.)
- Dedication to the cause and nature of the organization
- Valid driver's license
